Brighter Days with Concord & 9th

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a bright and cheerful card featuring a recent addition to the bargain basement that has proved very popular.

The Brighter Days stamps and dies are currently available as a bundle at a very reduced price.

So, the perfect excuse to play with this fun set again!

I started out by die-cutting a square of pale pink cardstock ready for stamping.

Full disclosure - without a little assistance, I'm a very wonky stamper!

So to help me centre things in my stamp positioner, I created myself some handy little grids from plastic quilting template sheets to use as alignment guides.

The 4" square one is super handy, as many US nested square die sets (like the one I've used here) feature this size, and the template makes it really easy to line everything up before stamping.

To balance things out, I stamped the sentiment first, then selected some bright colours for the rainbow stripes.

Next, I used the coordinating dies for the glittery clouds and little heart accents.

Finally, I mounted the pink panel on the Zig Zag square and stuck it down on a kraft card blank from Papermania.

The finished result looks a bit like a giant postage stamp, which I love!

Print Shop Garden Goddness with The Greetery

Happy 2025 all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with my first make of the year.

I'm not going to lie, crafting in January always feels like a struggle for me, as if I've forgotten how to make a card that isn't for Christmas!

So to ease myself back into it, I have reached for a faithful old friend.

The Print Shop Garden Goodness stamp and stencil combo from The Greetery.

And to chase the January blues away, I brought out some blue tones to use for the foliage.

I used the Garden Goodness Layers dies to add a little dimension to some of the elements in the background to make them pop more.

The sentiment is from the Tagged Elegance stamp set, cut out with the coordinating die set.

As a finishing touch, I added sparkly gems to the flower centres and Glossy Accents to the buds.

And there we go, the first card of 2025 made!

Festive Stocking Stamp & Stitch with Concord & 9th

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with my last project for 2024!

Time is definitely tight in this last push before Christmas, so I pulled out a couple of favourites: the Boughs & Holly stencils and the Stocking Stamp & Stitch dies and coordinating stamps.

I started out by creating the stamped stocking in some mod festive shades, finished off with little details from the die set.

Then for my backdrop, I used the Boughs & Holly stencil set which contains two different looks - a wreath and an outer garland originally designed to fit in some sentiments. Both can definitely be used independently with other supplies.

It's the outer garland that I've used here, trimming down the A2 panel and filling in some of the gaps with stamped hearts and sequins, and adding a sentiment from stamp set.

And there we have it! I hope you've enjoyed the projects I've shared this year.

Clean & Simple Nordic Tree with The Greetery

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a simple make featuring a wonderfully dimensional die set from The Greetery's new Icing release.

Although this release focuses primarily on wrapping and decor for the festive season, the Nordic Tree is a great stand-out piece on cards too.

It's just so unique and has lots of little details and textural elements.

I always test cut new dies before putting them away, and for this set I ran the dies through my machine with some watercolour paper I had to hand.

The pieces were just too tempting to put away for another day.

So out came my Distress Oxides and blending brushes for a quick test assembly.

The binding agent in this watercolour paper really makes Oxides look very chalky – quite nice for a shabby chic look – but I also look forward to using solid cardstock in bold shades next time, so the cut details stand out more.

I simply used Rustic Wilderness, Walnut Stain, and Fossilized Amber to colour both sides of the die cuts, adding a spritz of water to move the colour around and then going in with splatters of dark pine ink over the branch areas.

The instructions for assembly are super easy and included in the pack – I just had to shorten the top of the trunk a smidge to fit it nicely on an A2 card. And once the tree was assembled minus the star, I splattered it with snowy white ink.

I found a great rustic background in my stash of printed digi papers and finished off the card with a sentiment from the Sentiment Suite Christmas set stamped on one of the banners from the Sentiment Suite Basics set.

This is definitely a card design that you can make in batches to create multiples in the busy festive period.

Jolly Snowmen with Concord & 9th Winter Wonderland

Morning all!

Well, December has arrived and not only am I back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today, I'm also sharing a project that fits in with the new December challenge.

Yep, the wintry theme called for a project featuring the ever-so-versatile Winter Wonderland stamps and coordinating dies from Concord & 9th.

I needed to make a fun card for my niece and nephew, so was definitely going to use those snowmen dies with the snowglobe background.

The die set includes a strip for creating a pop-up surprise inside your card, and as someone who shies away from making interactive cards, I decided to bite the bullet and give it a whirl as I wanted to include a snowglobe scene inside the card too.

So I started out by covering my card base on the front and inside with patterned papers to set the scene.

For the front snowglobe, I assembled the jolly snowmen (complete with googly eyes) and put my cardstock scraps to good use for the smaller details.

I added Distress Clear Rock Candy glitter to the snowy hills and Star Dust Stickles to the snow for a more frosty look.

While the glitter was drying, I stamped the cosy sentiment directly onto the card front and cut the "fa la la" from Champagne cardstock.

Next, I stamped the snowglobe for the inside with the same ink colour for the sky and picked ink shades that coordinated with the tree paper.

I made sure to watch the video instructions from Concord & 9th here (about 3.5 minutes in) before attempting to add the snowglobe inside - and hey presto! It worked!

Finally, I added the Snowman snowglobe to the front and cut a few of the snowflakes from the die set as a sparkly finishing touch.

Here's hoping my niece and nephew like their card!

Festive Blooms with Concord & 9th

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a project I've been looking forward to making.

The Festive Blooms die and stamp combo flew out of stock when it first arrived in store, and restocks are now available again!

So for the first outing of the wintry counterpart to the original Primrose Garden release, I went for some non-traditional colours that I've been enjoying this year for poinsettias in particular.

And as always when using these sets for the first time, I used the helpful layering guide included with the packaging and the stitched die as a template for where to place everything.

It takes a lot of the guesswork out.

I used the following cardstock from Concord & 9th to build each layer:

• Mushroom
• Rainforest (overlaid with vellum)
• Juniper, Hazelnut, and Champagne
• Evergreen
• Off-white ivory from my stash and gold
• Nectar and Espresso
• Eucalyptus

Once all the blooms were stuck down, I cut the banner from Eucalyptus cardstock and heat embossed one of the sentiments from the stamp set in an off-white embossing powder.

I was extremely tempted to go in with some splatters of gold, but resisted on this occasion.

The cream cardstock I used for my card base has some flecks of colour through it already so that nicely completed the look.

Bringing the Cheer with The Greetery

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a festive make that's worthy of a musical soundtrack from Chris Rea!

Whenever I see those little red cars with Christmas trees on their roofs, I always hear Driving Home for Christmas playing!

It's now even become an annual tradition for me to make a Christmas card or two featuring those little red cars.

So it was definitely time to pull out the Cheer Mobile stamp and die sets from The Greetery for this year's little red car extravaganza.

The stamp set includes lots of accessories to pop on the roof or out of the boot, and in addition to the main die set, there is a sentiment die set too.

Once I'd stamped my little red car and all the items I wanted to laden it with, I looked for something to create a little festive scene.

There is a very handy die currently in the bargain basement from Avery Elle - the Snow Scene die (there's also a Star Scene and Sea Scene too).

I simply inked it up with blue inks for a nighttime look and popped it behind the little red car, with some sparkly off-white glitter card for more "snow" on the ground.

Finally, I added sentiments and some sprigs of greenery from the Cheer Mobile set and then used the large Nordic Frame rectangle die to frame the scene on my card base.

Dies: Kristina Werner - Gift Bows, MFT - Joy, Love, and Peace (r), The Greetery - A2 Stitched Scallops, The Greetery - Crimped Circle Tags, The Greetery - Hearts at Home: Sweater

Back when I bought this die, I knew I wanted to use it for some wintry projects too. It's a really versatile little thing as you can dress it up for the season with punches, dies, and stamps you already have in your stash, as well as using the heart motif that is included. It also features a cute little coat hanger, although I've not used it today.

For this festive makeover, I simply added a Christmas tree from my scraps bowl to the sweater and built the rest of the card around it.

I gave one of The Greetery's Crimped Circle Tags the snow splatter treatment with white ink and kept the rest of the design clean and simple.

For the background to my card, I decorated the A2 Stitched Scallops rectangle die with Champagne ribbon strips from Kristina Werner's Gift Bows set (out of stock just now, but request to be notified when it comes back in!) and stamped a wintry sentiment from the Tagged Elegance set in the bottom corner.

Then I added the tag and coordinating Gift Bow, and simply mounted the panel on a card base covered in patterned paper.

And there we have it, a clean and simple make for the busy festive season!

Winter Stencil Scapes with The Greetery

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with some firm favourites from The Greetery's festive back catalogue.

This combination of supplies is one I revisit every year and well, it's time for the 2024 edition!

The Stencil Scapes Winter set is a 6-step layering scene builder that allows you to use just 6 colours of ink, or go in with detail blending brushes to add even more variety to the colour palette.

I personally love using pink for the sky and a light blue for the icy lake, and mainly used the Shader +1 single- and double-ended brushes from Waffle Flower for the other areas on these stencils.

The Waffle Flower Grip Mat was also great for holding everything in place as I worked.

Once the background was done, I stamped one of the sentiments from the Sentiment Suite Christmas set and then grabbed an outline die from my stash to cut an aperture into the stencilled background to frame the scene dimensionally when sticking it onto my card base.

To finish off the card, I grabbed the coordinating Frosty Pines dies, which contain two pine trees in the same style as the Winter landscape. The dies also contain cut marks to easily cut apart the areas you can use as snow, so I just ran the branch dies through my machine again with white glitter paper for maximum sparkle.

There are also two little bunnies in the die set that go over the stencilled bunnies in the scene and just finish off the look nicely.

For extra wintry sparkle, I added Glossy Accents to all the flower centres and berries.

All in all, a really relaxing card make for the busy cardmaking season.

True Story with Concord & 9th

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with (gasp!) a non-festive project featuring the brand-new True Story Bundle from Concord & 9th.

(Just a quick reminder that if this set has since gone out of stock, make sure you create a restock request).

This set will definitely appeal to book lovers and offers lots of versatile looks for various occasions.

In fact, I would be very happy if Concord & 9th released a mini festive add-on!

I also love how the die set includes a plate for creating the shaped outline at the top of an A2 card - I just taped this to my card blank and ran it through my machine twice and it cut that outline cleanly.

You could also use it for a horizontal book stack on a top-folding card.

So, once my card blank was ready, I got down to creating those book spines.

I've been really liking the combination of bluey green and peach tones in the Concord & 9th cardstock line up, so I used the following colours:

• Rainforest
• Sea Glass
• Champagne (foil)
• Grapefruit
• Nectar
• Eucalyptus
• Evergreen

Then it was time to use the little dies and the stamps to add all the details.

For the last book in the stack, I personalised the spine with number and alpha dies (and some teeny stamps) in my stash to celebrate the occasion of a 21st birthday.

I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing what extra details you can add to your True Story cards, and perhaps you can already give them a festive look.

Postage Collage Poinsettias with Waffle Flower

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with another festive project.

This time I've pulled out some of the Christmas in July release from Waffle Flower for some fun and bright inking - a great way to combat the grey skies and colder temperatures!

I started out by cutting the original A2 Postage Collage die from white cardstock and working through the four steps of the Postage Collage Poinsettia stencil set with a tried and true colour combo.

I use my Waffle Flower grip mat for all the Postage Collage stencils, and love how it holds everything in place - no need for tape or magnets.

Once my panel was done, it was time to add some postmark details with the Postage Collage North Pole and Royal Mail stamp sets. They add just enough detail and interest to that busy background.

I then picked some contrasting cardstock shades for my card base and added the airmail border with the Postage Collage Coloring stencils.

Once my card was assembled I added one of the sentiments from the Waffle Flower Family Christmas sentiment set - they're just so handy to add to projects, as I stamped and cut all the sentiments in the set when I bought them so they're ready to use as and when I need a festive sentiment.

As a finishing touch I added some sparkly glitter glue to the poinsettia centres and there we go, another Christmas card done.

Festive Door Decor with Concord & 9th

Morning everyone!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with not one, but two cards featuring the Door Decor die set from Concord & 9th.

You know me, I can't resist a die layering set that builds a scene, especially for the festive season!

This set is designed to create a gatefold cardbase in the shape of a door and works for any season of the year - there are pumpkins, spring blooms, topiaries, and of course Christmas greenery.

For my first card, I used the dies as intended.

I cut the card base die from pale pink cardstock and simply went ahead and added all the festive elements for a clean and simple look.

I wanted to create some panelled doors in a nice dark green to contrast against the festive greenery. Concord and 9th's Rainforest cardstock was perfect for this.

I cut the door frames twice so there'd be some depth to the die-cuts once pieced back in.

I kept the pink theme going with the planters and bow on the wreath, and for some extra sparkle I wrapped metallic silver thread around the Christmas trees in the planters to look like string lights.

There is a matching Door Decor stamp set from Concord & 9th, but for my projects today I wanted to see what else in my stash would work well.

So I finished off the outside of the card with a sentiment from the Elegant Christmas 2 set by Waffle Flower, and there's another festive sentiment inside from Waffle Flower's Family Christmas set.

For look number two, I wanted to create a door scene on an actual A2 card base.

This time I cut the cardbase die from dark grey cardstock and snipped off the doors.

I cut the door frames from the same grey shade twice, and stuck a piece of vellum behind the "window" elements. Then I added the white glitter snow elements over the vellum and the panel elements at the bottom of the door.

As the backdrop to my door, I used woodgrain patterned paper for the wall and decking and then kept the colour scheme pretty traditional for all the greenery.

The rounded garland die in the set can be inverted to make hanging boughs, and I simply cut the little bauble dies from gold glitter cardstock to add that finishing touch.

For my greeting, I used another sentiment from the Elegant Christmas 2 set from Waffle Flower.

And there we have it, two different festive looks and designs with the same die set.

Over the Rooftops with Concord & 9th

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a project featuring another festive favourite from last year's Concord & 9th Christmas release.

Yep, this week it's Over the Rooftops!

While I spent last week on house and cat sitting duty away from my craft space, I filled some of the time by die-cutting and assembling scores of tiny little houses from this set ready to use on future cards.

Honestly, these kinds of dies are perfect when you need to pack light for crafting on the go, and they use up lots of cardstock scraps!

Win-win!

So once I was reunited with my craft desk, it was just a matter of putting some of those houses to good use on a card.

I've made countless cards with Over the Rooftops before, and wanted to try a different look.

I already had the Season's Greetings paper pad from Waffle Flower out on my desk, so used the candy cane stripe for the background and the woodgrain pattern to cut the frame.

Waffle Flower also came up trumps with the perfect sentiment for this little street scene - the Family Christmas sentiments.

Once everything was assembled, I added some frosty sparkly touches to the roofs, windows, and steps with glitter glue.

Primrose Garden with Concord & 9th

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a card project inspired by some colour combos showcased in Concord & 9th's new Christmas release.

When the sneak peeks for the September release were shared on social media, I was really excited to see that there was a festive take on the Primrose Garden die and stamp set from earlier in the year.

So I thought, why not use those colours with Primrose Garden?

Well, here's how it turned out:

Dies and stamp: Concord & 9th - Primrose Garden

One tip I have for these floral die sets that have a stitched guide is to cut yourself a spare one from cardstock to keep inside the storage pocket, as once you start layering the floral elements on your project you'll start covering up the stitched outlines, and it can be quicker to just take a quick glance at your cardstock guide to keep you straight. The included sample image is also useful, but the stitched outline was the best reference for me.

And as for the layers, here are the colours I used building up from my black card base:

• Rainforest (also in the 2024 assorted cardstock pack)
• Juniper
• Eucalyptus (also in the 2024 assorted cardstock pack)
• Cocoa (neutrals pack) + Sea Glass
• Watermelon (also in the 2024 assorted cardstock pack)
• Nectar + Stardust
• Almond (neutrals pack) + Espresso (neutrals pack)
• Nutmeg (sentiment banner)

As you can see, I've used a number of colours from the neutrals pack. I really hope Concord & 9th will release them separately too, as there are some really useful browns in here, plus that Almond shade is fantastic for magnolia-like blooms. It's a lovely alternative to cream/white and works as a really pale peachy blush tone.

The sentiment from the Primrose Garden stamp set is simply embossed in white and as a finishing touch I added some champagne glitter drops to the flower centres for a little sparkle.

I'm really pleased with how this colour combo turned out and will definitely be using it again!

Sweater Season with Concord & 9th

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a project to prepare us for the cooler weather that will no doubt be on the way again (after this warm spell!).

The cold snap we experienced last week was enough for me to get inspired to pull out a fab stamp and die set from Concord & 9th's 2023 Christmas release.

The Sweater Season die set contains 3 styles of jumpers and 3 hat designs, along with lots of little details to decorate them, and a "Bundled Up!" word die.

So, I grabbed my stash of Concord & 9th cardstock scraps and got to work cutting out this winter wardrobe.

Dies and Stamps: Concord & 9th - Sweater Season

Here are the colours I used:

• Evergreen
• Tidepool
• Nectar
• Grapefruit
• Honeycomb

I also used an off-white for a neutral shade.

The little stitch and knit details from the Sweater Season mini stamp set add the perfect finishing touch.

So many possibilities for creating different looks.

I played around with the positioning of the hats and sweaters so that I could add a few sentiments from the stamp set before sticking everything down.

What's great about this set, is that once you've made one card, you can use it as a guide for similar designs in other colour combos, which is a real time-saver in the festive crafting season!

Bespoke Birthday Wishes with The Greetery Takes the Cake

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a rather bespoke birthday card for my niece.

When queried as to what she wanted on her card this year, she emphatically told me a cake with her age on it, and it needed to be purple!

Whatever the birthday girl wants, the birthday girl gets!

So I naturally reached for the essential supplies to bring this request to life in all its glittery purple glory:

The Takes the Cake die set from The Greetery.

This die set has seen a lot of use - it coordinates with the rest of the Takes the Cake product suite, but is also a great stand-alone set for creating different cake designs.

I used Lilac cardstock from Concord & 9th for the cake base, then cut different shades of glittery cardstock for the frosting.

Before assembling the cake, I needed to create the perfect celebratory background for it.

The Rainbow Ever After 6x6 paper pad from Lawn Fawn has some lovely ombré backgrounds in it, including this one that goes from light pink to minty green.

I embossed the Ticker Tape Background stamp in super sparkly embossing powder straight onto the paper to cover my card base (I'm sure the Ticker Tape hot foil plate would look a treat too!).

For more celebratory sparkle, I cut the Curly Q Streamers from glitter cardstock and arranged them over the background.

Once the cake was assembled with the matching Cake Stand die, I added one of the Tear Strip Tags Birthday sentiments cut with the Tear Strip Banners die.

This was perfect for lining up the letters of my nieces name cut with one of my all-time favourite alphabets: Oliver's Stitched ABCs.

And of course, she wanted her age atop her cake, so I used the Bold Numbers set from The Greetery (currently out of stock - but subscribe to request it) to add that.

Finally, there was room for a little extra birthday pizazz at the top, so I added a little fringe detail to make the card a touch taller and add some more texture.

I'm hoping this card meets the birthday girl's exacting requirements - who knows what she'll request next year!

Folksy Fall Florals

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a new card for a new season!

It's hard to believe, but August went by in the wink of an eye, and I now have my autumnal supplies at the ready!

In case you missed it, there's also a brand-new challenge for you to join in with all on the theme of Shades of Autumn. There's a £10 voucher up for grabs for the lucky winner!

My card today is very much inspired by that challenge, in fact the shades of autumn that were showcased recently for The Greetery's new Autumn in the Air collection.

While I was compiling my wish list for that release, I decided to pull out an autumnal set from last year.

The Fall Folk layering stencil set contains five layers for creating a folksy background that really reminds me of Basic Grey designs from back in the day.

As always, the stencil set comes with a handy colour guide for the five steps and also helps you visualise how colours will appear together.

I used Distress Oxides to lay down the colour on cream cardstock in this order:

1. Seedless Preserves
2. Crackling Campfire
3. Brushed Corduroy
4. Wild Honey
5. Aged Mahogany

I then went in with coloured pencils to add line and dot details in a darker shade over the stencilling.

Once that was done, I splattered some dark brown ink over the entire background and used my light brown blending brush to age the edges, then I took some Antique Linen regular Distress Ink to blend more ink around the corners and edges.

I finished off the card with the bold Thank You sentiment from the Opposites Attract stamp and die set, and also stamped one of the mini sentiments in the Little Labels set in a darker shade of brown ink.

A Quick Hello with The Greetery Print Shop Daisy Days

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a quick and easy make.

I always like to have a few general cards on hand to include when sending something small by mail.

For these cards, I like to keep things simple.

So time to pull out one of my favourite product sets!

Paper: The Greetery - Print Shop: Daisy Days

Die: The Greetery - Scripty Hello

The Print Shop Daisy Days stamp and stencil combo, and the pack of coordinating cardstock papers that you simply fill in with the stencil/stamp details.

The pack contains five different coloured backgrounds, and you get two of each.

I've not yet used the black background, so thought it was time to go dramatic!

To take out all the guesswork, I simply followed the suggested colours in the instruction sheet included with the stamps - but I omitted the stencil for the solid petals as I wanted to leave those white.

Once all the stencil steps were done, I grabbed the stamp that adds all the petal details in one go, inked it up with a light grey ink to make those white daisies really pop, then I added the dots to the flower centres using an acrylic block.

For my sentiment, I grabbed the Scripty Hello and cut the Hello from Sweet Pea cardstock for more pop!

And there we have it, card complete.

If you want to create a similar look with more pop, there's a Daisy Days die set that cuts out the full floral spray but also includes dies for some of the individual elements too, so you can be really flexible in the looks you create.

Birthday Wishes with The Greetery BotaniCuts Wisteria

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a summery floral make.

I finally had the chance to sit down and play with one of the recent additions to The Greetery's BotaniCuts series.

The BotaniCuts Wisteria dies.

As always, my first outing for any BotaniCuts set starts with viewing the accompanying how-to video on YouTube, and this time I followed along with Betsy's tutorial - including using the same Distress Oxide shades and adding some pencil detail.

As I'd cut the Wisteria from watercolour card, I also went in with some water spritzing to add some more variation to the inked die cuts. This worked a treat!

While the Wisteria die cuts were drying, I created the background to my card.

I grabbed some cream cardstock for my card base and the large Hoopla Oval die to frame the florals.

The large hoop is cut from kraft cardstock, but to accentuate the woodgrain texture, I went over it with my brown ink blending brush.

I used the inside of the oval frame as a mask on my cream card base when splattering some diluted Wilted Violet ink on the base, that way the space inside the hoop was left unsplattered - for now!

I then glued down the hoop and Wisteria and gave them a good splattering of pearlescent watercolour paint.

The Opposites Attract sentiment set and coordinating dies for the bold and scripty sentiments in the set worked well for the remaining space.

So once my sentiment was in place, I just added a few twinkly sequins as a finishing touch.

A Blooming Background with The Greetery Bigger Blooms

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a fun floral background card.

The Bigger Blooms stamp set is currently heavily discounted in the Bargain Basement, and although the dies are now sold out, the stamps are great for creating bold backgrounds.

The set features layering stamps for some of the florals and leaves, but you can also omit these steps and just use the base stamps for a different look.

I selected a colour palette inspired by the colour combos showcased on the Concord & 9th website here. It's a useful resource when you want to try something new.

I used six shades of ink and used the same ink shade for both layering steps.

Once my background was complete, I just needed to find the right sentiment.

I grabbed the Everyday Labels sentiments and the coordinating Handmade Labels dies.

The Thank You sentiment in this set includes space to add one of the decorative elements - I chose this floral element stamped in the same colours as the background to complete the look.

Budding Beauties Summer Blooms

I'm over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a summery project featuring supplies from The Greetery.

I was inspired by the new These Are the Days release and its botanicals to create a card where vintage meets summer florals.

Before the Birth Month Blooms arrived on the scene, we had the Budding Beauties series, with florals for each season.

So I've pulled out the Budding Beauties Summer set, which features a peony, hydrangea, and a bunch of daisies and got down to some stamping.

To bunch the peony and hydrangea together, I used the twine ribbon from the Fit to Be Tied die set.

I used some layering dies from the Nordic Frames and Crimped Frame sets to layer some rather vintage patterned paper that was giving me seed catalogue vibes.

I added some Antique Linen ink around the edges to age them a bit, then I stamped the main sentiment from the Little Labels set at the bottom and the Picked Fresh stamp from the Budding Beauties Summer stamp set in the opposite corner.

As a finishing touch, I cut one of the paper clips in the Curio Divider Details die set from metallic gold cardstock to complete the look.

Avery Elle Let it Snow Mash-Up

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with my last project for Christmas in July.

This time, I've created a little die mash-up by combining a new-to-me die set from the Bargain Basement with a more recent festive favourite.

Stamp: Concord & 9th - Home for the Holidays
Dies: Concord & 9th - Home for the Holidays Stacks, Avery Elle - Let It Snow (r)

The Avery Elle Let It Snow die set is currently heavily discounted, and it's really worth adding this set to your Christmas arsenal.

It includes a frame die with snowy punch-out elements that can be left attached or snipped apart if you prefer, a tall arch window that makes a perfect snowglobe dome, a Let It Snow sentiment die, and other useful accents such as snowflakes.

This die is great for creating wintry scenes, so that's exactly what I've done!

I've used this die set to frame some houses and other winter village staples from Concord & 9th's popular Home for the Holidays die set.

Most of the cardstock elements come from Concord's Assorted cardstock pack and when I'm out for a crafty evening with friends, I simply take that pack with me, so I can cut and assemble elements from the Home for the Holidays set and Over the Rooftops set and pop them in a jewellery organizer tray ready for use on future cards.

And this is one such card.

All I then needed to do was cut some snowy hills with the die in the Home for the Holidays set to fit inside the arch, cut a few snowflakes from the Avery Elle Let It Snow set, and heat emboss a sentiment from the Home for the Holidays coordinating stamp set, and ta-da! Card complete!

Christmas Wishes with the Waffle Flower Poinsettia Die-n-Stencil

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with more festive inspiration from Waffle Flower's Christmas in July release!

Today, the focus is on the Poinsettia Die-n-Stencil set.

It's a versatile set that allows you to stencil the layered Poinsettia directly onto your project, or to cut the die elements first and then stencil onto them.

The Waffle Flower grip mats are great for holding your die cuts in place and the stencils too.

So last week it was a pink poinsettia, this week I was looking at combining some icy tones with something bold.

I used the four shades of aqua in the Seashore set from Altenew to create the layers for the poinsettia, adding some silver enamel dots to the centres.

I wanted a festive stripe in the background, and grabbed another great purchase from the Bargain Basement for this - the Diagonal Striped Coverplate from SugarPea Designs.

The "to-use" storage bin on my desk luckily contained an A2 panel that was already sprayed with Frozen Fog Distress Mica Stain, so I just needed to run this through with the coverplate die - plus I could also piece the left-over strips into the another coverplate panel to create an extra background for future use!

With those cool frosty tones, I needed something bold - enter the lovely Sweet Pea pink cardstock from Concord & 9th! I used this to back the coverplate and splattered more frosty white paint and some bright pink ink over the background.

The card needed some extra detail at the top, so I cut the Ribbon Maker Petite Scallops die from white cardstock, added this at the top and trimmed it down.

Then I added a strip of Sweet Pea cardstock and created a matching ribbon with the bow die in the Christmas Cloche set to finish that off.

Finally, I just needed to add my sentiment from the new Waffle Flower Family Christmas set, and card complete!

Merry & Bright with the Waffle Flower Poinsettia Cluster Die

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today, sharing another project using supplies from Waffle Flower's Christmas in July release.

This time, the focus is on the ever-so-versatile Poinsettia Cluster die.

Along with the layered poinsettia flower, the die set includes two foliage dies, a berry branch, and pinecone.

My card is a riff on a favourite Christmas make from last year featuring That Bow - aka The Greetery's Big Beautiful Bow (which is still proving popular as it's just gone out of stock again!). And indeed I've used that die set here for the ribbon and tag elements, but this time I switched out the bow and used the poinsettia as the decorative element for this "gift card".

With a simple cover plate as the backdrop to your card, you can really make the poinsettia the star of the show.

The cover plate I've used was from a recent Bargain Basements offer, so it's definitely worth keeping an eye on that sale section!

I used various shades of cardstock from Concord & 9th for the Poinsettia Cluster and Big Beautiful Bow elements:

• Ballet Slipper
• Stardust
• Evergreen
• Cocoa (from the new neutrals pack)
• Pebble

For the centre of the Poinsettia I ink blended one of the layers a little darker to stand out, then when I added Glossy Accents I alternated between the dots of the flower centre so that the first dots could dry before filling in the areas in between - that way the Glossy Accents won't all blend into one messy blob (we've all been there!).

The little tag is stamped with a sentiment from the Mini Merry Messages set from Mama Elephant - perfect for adding sentiments to tags!

Once all my elements were assembled on my card, I decided it needed some festive splatter, so out came the pearlescent white, copper, and matt white paint. I covered the little tag with Post-It tape so that it wouldn't be overly splattered.

And there we have it, another Christmas card made for the pile!

Christmas in July with Waffle Flower Postage Collage Snowmen

I'm over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a new project featuring Waffle Flower's Christmas in July release!

I was honoured to be invited to guest design for Waffle Flower for this release, and I'm so excited to see these products out in the wild now! In fact, I'm rather tempted to just keep creating Christmas cards for the rest of the month!

A particular favourite is the new Postage Collage Snowman stencil set.

There are just two layers to this set, so great for making multiple cards and getting creative with your colour combos.

I picked out six shades in a mix of pinks, aqua tones, lavender, and a bold emerald green for these jolly fellows.

You can use larger brushes to fill in the first layer of colour, then go in with a smaller shader brush to add the black arms and faces.

The carrot noses and buttons are on the next stencil.

Once the Postage Collage panel was dry, I added the layer 1 stencil back over the top, covered the faces on the stencil with masking tape, and splattered snowy white ink over so it would just land in the "sky" areas.

Another new addition to the Postage Collage family is the Royal Mail stamp set that finally allows us to add some UK accents to our stamps. I used a few here and also used the cancellation mark from the original Postage Collage stamp set.

As the backdrop to this card, I added the air mail border with the Postage Collage Coloring stencil and layered the Postage Collage panel on a piece of Concord & 9th Tidepool cardstock.

Finally, I added sentiments from the new Elegant Christmas 2 set. The Sending Good Cheer and Making Spirits Bright sentiments fit perfectly inside the square stamps on the Postage Collage die. And as you can see, you can mix and match the sentiments on your card.

As a frosty finishing touch, I added a little glitter snowflake to balance out the card.

Birthday wishes with The Greetery Sips Tea set

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with another project featuring the lovely tea-themed supplies in The Greetery's latest release.

This time, the spotlight is on the tea cups in the Sips Tea Stamp and Cut combo.

I simply cut the tea cups from white cardstock and added some ink blending before once again deploying Betsy's technique of using Glue Ink on a sponge dauber to add the Sips Tea stencil details and a dusting of Perfect Pearls for that lovely golden lustre.

I set the cups aside to dry and found some lovely floral paper from Lawn Fawn to use as the background to my card.

I didn't want to cover up all of the paper, so I turned the large A2 Stitched Scallops die into a frame using a rectangle die.

Then it was time to arrange the tea cups on my card, stacking them using the Tipsy Strip die as explained in Betsy's video here.

For a little floral detail, I used the smallest set of blooms in the BotaniCuts Lilacs set and coloured the white die cuts with Distress Oxides, highlighting the details in pencil, so they could tumble out of the cups.

I used the teabag die to add a sentiment from the Sentiment Suite Birthday set, and stamped the teabag label with the stamps from the Sips Tea Stamp and Cut Combo.

Time for Tea with The Greetery Garden Party release

I'm back over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a rather fancy card - even if I say so myself!

I absolutely loved so many items in the new Garden Party collection from The Greetery, but the must-haves for me were the tea set items!

No doubt I will be picking up more items from this release in due course, but those china patterns and coordinating elements went right to the top of my list.

As soon as I receive an order of craft supplies, I have a little ritual of cutting all the dies to test them out in my machine before snipping them apart and popping them in their new storage pockets.

So there are several elements from various sets used in today's project, simply because they were all cut and ready to go (and still out on my desk!).

Here are the sets I've used:

• Fine China stamps and Fine China die and stencil
• Pours Tea dies and coordinating stencil
• Sips Tea Stamp + Cut combo
• A2 Stitched Scallops

Tip for the Fine China dies: Before snipping the dies apart, run the die through your machine with heavy-weight cardstock to create yourself an alignment template. While the pieces are still in the die, stick them all together using some sturdy tape.
Also, while the die is still in one piece, it's also a good idea to flip it over and draw a line down the centre with a permanent pen and ruler, marking the top and bottom of the dies for easy reference.
Once you snip the dies apart, you can simply nestle them into the cardstock template you've made and hold them in place with some low-tack tape so they are perfectly aligned when running the various die combinations through your machine. This makes it super easy to ensure the dotted circle die is accurately centred in the middle of the plates.

So with all the elements already cut for this card, it was time to get blending, stamping, and adding that gold lustre!

I started out with the Pours Tea teapots, which I blended in a few different pastel shades, one of them being the pink I would eventually use on this card.

As someone who doesn't own a foiling system, I was happy to see some tips from Betsy for replicating the look of foiling using the coordinating stencils. As luck would have it I still had a refill bottle of Glue Pad ink in my stash (must be 15 years old by now!) and an even older set of Ranger Perfect Pearls (which haven't seen much use until now!), and thankfully one of the shades in that set (Sunflower Sparkle) passes as a fancy gold!

So I am pleased to report, the technique with the Glue Pad ink, finger dauber, and Perfect Pearls was a winner! Thank you Betsy!

Once I'd stencilled and stamped my Fine China plates, I tested out some different methods of adding gold.

For the biggest plate, I stamped the edge and inner detail in Versamark ink and went over this with Perfect Pearls. This initially looked great, but after handling the finished plate, the powder came off a bit - not a problem for a more vintage, tarnished look!

For the other plate, I simply stamped with Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink. The effect is good, but again it comes off easily with handling, and as it is a pigment ink it may easily smudge.

So, now I will be on a mission to see if I still actually own the Glue Pad ink pad - otherwise I will simply use the Glue Pad ink on a finger dauber to ink the stamps rather than using Versamark.

I found the Glue Pad ink easily washed off from the stencils, and it will no doubt easily wash off stamps too.

Once I finished up the three main elements for my card, I grabbed some coordinating papers, to create my card base.

To break up the patterns, I trimmed down the largest A2 Stitched Scallops die to create borders for the pink paper.

Before sticking anything else down, I stamped the For You sentiment from the Fine China set in the top right corner.

There was a little something missing from this card, so I took the teabag label and string from the Sips Tea die and stamp combo to add the Tea Time label coming out of the teapot.

And there we have it, card done!

I'm looking forward to using the other die-cuts I cut and coloured for some future projects.

Make a Wish - The Greetery Container Garden and Jumbo Jar

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a new card featuring an old favourite.

Seeing the new Trendy Tumbler products in The Greetery's latest release, it got me inspired to get one of my favourite Greetery product combos out.

The Jumbo Jar die and Container Garden stamp and die set.

Always a winner when I want to just stamp some pretty flowers in some pretty ink colours and keep things simple.

I used fresh summer shades for the flowers and added a little pencil detail to the smaller blooms and berries.

I cut the Jumbo Jar from ivory cardstock 3 times to build up the frame, and also used the Distress Oxide ink already on my "light blue" blending brush to colour in the jar background, adding a little blue ink splatter to peek out from behind the flowers.

For the background to the jar, I cut the Deco Frame die from pale pink cardstock and popped it on a kraft card base with a little gold ink around the edges.

Then it was just a case of assembling the Container Garden elements inside the jar, cutting the Jumbo Jar lid from matt gold cardstock, and adding little details like the twine and sequins.

I kept things super simple with the sentiment, using another of my ready-to-go Birthday Wishes sentiments from Waffle Flower.

Ahoy!

Morning all!

I'm over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a fun nautical card.

Waffle Flower had a fun (and very popular!) release last month that was beach/sea themed and while waiting for those items to be restocked I had a little rummage in my supplies for more nautical products.

The wonderful Nautical Notions and coordinating Ahoy word die from SugarPea Designs are currently heavily discounted here along with all other products from SugarPea Designs.

So to set the scene for my card, I started out by creating a nautical striped background with half-inch strips of white and Blueberry cardstock.

The Nautical Notions layering dies are easy to assemble - I love the little details like the stripes for the yacht, the wave edge, the elements for the crab (so you can add inking for the body and pincers), and the rope for the life ring. Just so well-thought-out.

The Ahoy word die also comes with a shadow outline, making it super easy to add over other elements, with no fiddly 3D foam behind the thin lettering.

But the nautical theme doesn't stop there.

I wanted to turn this card into a Father's Day card, so I used another older stamp set from Avery Elle for the inside. The Swell stamp set includes a nautical frame that showcases various sentiments inside, including a Father's Day sentiment!

Perfect!

Mini Birthday Wishes

Morning all!

I'm over on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with the mini version of one of my favourite birthday die sets from The Greetery.

The Takes the Cake series is a real favourite for creating fancy birthday cake cards, but there's also a wonderful mini version of the dies that allows you to create different cake styles on a smaller scale.

Great for pairing with tags and layering dies!

I started out by creating my tiered cake from cream cardstock with the layers coloured in with Saltwater Taffy Distress Ink. For a touch of glam, I cut the frosting from pastel glitter card and the cake stand from gold metallic card. A great way to use up your scraps!

For my tag element, I used the large Crimped Circle Tag, but needed something to make the cake stand out against the white background.

A rosette was my first idea, but I didn't have any rosette dies the right size.

No problem!

I cut a piece of vellum with a circle die and went over it with the Saltwater Taffy ink pad to make it match the colour palette.

I then snipped into it with a pair of scissors to create that ruffled fringe look.

The colour was still a little too light, so I went over the snipped rosette again with the ink pad and some of the ink settled into the cut lines. I dabbed off the excess ink by pressing the rosette between two sides of printer paper.

For my background, I cut the Deco Frame from Sea Glass cardstock and mounted it on my card base.

Then it was time to add the decorative party accents - with the Curly Q Streamer dies cut from pastel pink glitter cardstock, the bow from The Greetery's Christmas Pudding die cut from a darker shade of aqua cardstock, and a glittery silver star to finish off the tag.

I'm still making my way through all the sentiments I stamped and cut from Waffle Flower's Birthday Wishes set - such a time-saver and more importantly, the perfect sentiment for this card!

Finally, I added some sparkly sequins to complete the look.
