If you missed my post over on the Hey Little Magpie blog last Thursday, here's the full post.
WARNING - if you're not yet ready to tackle the idea of Christmas crafting, that blog post is not for you... but then again, it might ease you in to the festive mood. ;o) After all, when it comes to making Christmas cards, the earlier you get down to it, the less frazzled you'll feel come December!
But anyway, I'm going to share the pics here for your delectation. :o)
I mainly used three new Christmas collections: Be Merry by American Crafts, Merry & Bright by Pink Paislee, and Good Cheer by Elle's Studio - links to all the items are provided after each project, you know, just in case you want to do a little shopping. :oP
So on with the show!
Keeping it clean and classy with this first card:
Paper: Pink Paislee, Elle's Studio
Embellishments: Pink Paislee
Enamel dots: Basic Grey
Die: Spellbinders
Other: 3D foam, Corner Chomper
Deer silhouettes and stag heads are a big trend this year - especially covered in glitter like this one!
Keeping with the grey tones...
Paper: Fancy Pants
Embellishments: Pink Paislee
Other: Stickles, 3D foam
Got to love that Fancy Pants spotty paper - I just love the knitted pattern in the spots. I added some red Stickles to the bow and bells to pull everything together. Red Stickles are my best friend for Christmas cards!
Next we have another card featuring the Merry & Bright collection by Pink Paislee:
Paper: Pink Paislee
Embellishments: Pink Paislee
Die: PTI
Enamel dots: MME
Other: 3D foam
I thought this collection would be perfect for one of those dimensional stars - I love how it pops against the "chalkboard" background.
And now for something complete different - bold and fun:
Paper: Pink Paislee
Tag: American Crafts
Embellishment: American Crafts
Other: 3D foam, Stickles
It doesn't get simpler than this card: cover a card blank with a bold and bright piece of patterned paper, pop the tag on 3D foam and add a sprig of holly for good measure. ;o)
I really love creating little scenes on Christmas cards, so combining the winter village paper from American Crafts with the tree paper from Elle's Studio and adding in a few cute die-cut embellishments was the perfect solution:
Paper: Crate Paper, American Crafts, Elle's Studio
Die-cut accents: American Crafts, Elle's Studio
Dies: Lawn Fawn, Sizzix
Enamel dots: MME
Other: 3D foam, Stickles
How cute is that deer in the van? I was determined to use that speech bubble die-cut from Elle's Studio on a card some how! And this little wintry scene in the North Pole was perfect for it. :oD Frosted Lace Stickles were the perfect finishing touch for a little snow on the road and van. <g>
And keeping with the cute look - whose Christmas mantelpiece wouldn't be complete without a flying penguin eh?
Paper: Elle's Studio
Die-cut embellishments: American Crafts
Dies: Lawn Fawn
Other: 3D foam
I just love that Bokeh-like background paper. The snowflakes and penguin are from the same ephemera pack and those Lawn Fawn cloud dies can be used whatever the weather it seems. :o)
Another festive little scene up next - using that old favourite - the Memory Box landscape die!
Paper: Elle's Studio
Die-cut embellishments: Elle's Studio, Pink Paislee
Glitter word sticker: Pink Paislee
Enamel dots: MME
Die: Memory Box
Other: hemp cord, sewing machine, Stickles, 3D foam
Couldn't resist combining the MERRY banner elements from Elle's Studio with that black glitter "Christmas" sticker. And that little green tree from Pink Paislee was the perfect item to bring a pop of contrasting colour to the whole scene. :)
And finally, my last card in the collection is a more modern and fun one:
Paper: Elle's Studio
Glitter embellishments: Pink Paislee
Die-cut embellishment: Elle's Studio
Die: Lawn Fawn
Other: 3D foam
I just love the die-cut words in the Merry & Bright ephemera pack, I used the "cheer" one here and mounted it on 3D foam on a piece of contrasting aqua paper to make it really stand out. And there had to be a snowflake somewhere right? I finished that off by cutting out the heart from a tab die-cut in the Good Cheer ephemera pack. And yes the Lawn Fawn journaling card die had to come out to play again. Such a handy die!
So that's everything from my October projects for Hey Little Magpie - won't be long now before it's time to share my November ones! ;)
