Festive Fridays: Joy

Morning all!

The other day I shared a card featuring the Our House Bundle from Concord & 9th.

Well, just like my approach to tiny festive houses like the Home for the Holidays and Over the Rooftops sets, I find it makes more sense to cut and assemble multiples when possible and have these elements ready to go for future cards.

Well the future card, in this case, is this one!

Supplies: Concord & 9th - Our House Bundle, The Greetery - Winter Medley

I won't go into all the details here (you can look back at my earlier post for that), but armed with the embossed roof elements and the plain base elements I'd already cut, I created a festive take on the house.

First up, I scored horizontal lines on the house base rather than use the brick embossing folder in the bundle for a "wood" texture.

I stuck to a similar colour palette, adding in some gold for the sentiment and glitter cardstock for the festive lights.

I added more winter greenery to the windows using the Winter Medley set from The Greetery. The little bows are from the Our House set and fit perfectly.

And of course there had to be some puffy paint for snow accents - alas there was a slight explosion of puffy paint on the door, but it's all good!

Oh, and it wouldn't be Christmas without a little Stickles action - red on the bows and clear on the flower centres.

And there we have it, a not-so-tiny festive house for the collection...

I wish I'd managed to capture the details better in these photos, but I had to snap this card around 5 p.m. yesterday, so the light isn't ideal... but we're finally getting more usable daylight moving into spring! Hurrah!

Our House Bundle from Concord & 9th

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a fun project featuring the Our House Bundle from Concord & 9th that was released last year.

My love of tiny festive houses (à la the Over the Rooftops and Home for the Holidays sets also from Concord & 9th) has now extended to larger full-size houses for card projects!

The bundle includes the die set that offers elements for every season, coordinating stamps, and a 2D embossing folder for adding texture to the roof and house front.

There is also an add-on die set for cutting multiples of the main elements in one pass - handy if you're going to be making several cards with this set at the same time.

The house outline die is a touch wider than a standard US A2 card, so I used 12x12 cardstock to cut four bases in one go so that I'd have them ready for future cards and I wouldn't waste too much cardstock.

I also cut the roofs for four cards in one go from scraps of grey cardstock I had in my stash and embossed them all with the 2D embossing folder.

For this card, I also added the embossed brick texture to the house - making sure to line up the die cut with the guide at the bottom of the folder.

Next, it was time to get decorating that house using whatever bits and pieces I had in my cardstock scraps.

I cut the window frames from white cardstock as well as the mustard yellow shade - to make it easier to add some light blue ink shading to the "glass panes", I added a bit of tape to the back of the frames before taking them out of the dies so that all the pieces would stay in place. This also made it easier to add the outline frames over the top.

Top tip: The product images on the Concord & 9th website include three how-to images explaining which die-cut elements go together and how to assemble them, this is especially helpful for the smaller details like the door handle and the cutout hearts on the shutters.

For my sentiment, I cut the banner die from Nectar cardstock twice and cut the "Hooray!" die into one of the banners, then stuck the banners together so that I could piece the individual rainbow letters into the cutouts.

I used the same colour from the banner to create the colourful balloons.

Once all the elements were stuck down, the finishing touch was to add some pink Nuvo drops to the flower centres.

Festive Fridays: Feeling Very Merry

Morning all!

Well, some crafting days are good days, and others are not so good!

Today's Festive Friday card seemed like a great idea and I thought I had the ink colours nailed, but nope!

Stickers: Simple Stories - Winter Wonder

I managed to snag some of the Winter Wonder collection from Simple Stories to use on this year's Christmas cards.

I even bought the cardstock sticker sheet and the sticker book with the intention of using the smaller pieces on Postage Collage themed cards.

Well, the sticker book stickers are super thin and not as vibrant as the sticker books I had in the past, admittedly a few years ago. So my hopes of adding some dimension behind them were slightly dashed...

Oh well, I decided to use the stickers anyway on the Postage Stamps Cover die I'd prepped with ink colours (that appeared to match the collection and would surely dry back lighter) and splatted with white ink for a snowy effect.

Then came the fun part of adding the Postage Collage details behind and around the stickers as I went.

I wasn't loving that snow shoe quadrant, so I added a quick stamped sentiment to the mix along with a sparkly snowflake left over from a previous project.

Lesson learned from this project, and hopefully the next postage-themed card with this collection will go a bit better!

Happy Spring with The Greetery Print Shop Modern Botanical

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with another spring project for the collection.

This time I'm using the Print Shop Modern Botanical set and coordinating dies.

As with all the products in the Print Shop series from The Greetery, layering stencils and stamps are used to create the background "print" giving you plenty of scope to use different colour palettes.

For this outing, I wanted to use Spring greens and soft tones for the florals, with a pop of blue for the bluebells.

Once I'd created the background panel, I cut extra florals with the die set to add a little pop.

I went in with some pencil details on some of the florals, and also used white pen on the yellow flower centres.

Before sticking anything down, I ran the background panel through my die cutting machine with a large zig zag die so I could mount it on a kraft card base.

I also grabbed the Tear Strip Tags Spring stamps and Tear Strip Banner dies to create some sentiments ready for Spring projects.

There are four sentiments in the set, and you simply snip the finished banners apart when you need them.

Finally, once everything was stuck down, I used some iridescent crystal gems to decorate the pink flower centres for a little sparkle in the sunlight.

Festive Fridays: Dear Santa

Morning all!

I'm back with another Festive Friday card featuring some (sadly) retired products, but a new-to-me sentiment set.

Stamps: Pretty Pink Posh - Winter Greetings, SugarPea Designs - You're My Type (r)
Dies: Pretty Pink Posh - Winter Greetings, SugarPea Designs - You're My Type (r), MFT - Tall Snow Globe (r)

The You're My Type set from SugarPea Designs always gets a festive outing. It wouldn't be Christmas without this little typewriter and the letter to Santa.

This year I'm pairing it with some digital papers from a favourite Pebbles line - I was so happy to be able to use the Cozy & Bright papers again, especially as I have only teeny scraps of the original 12x12 still left in my stash.

The typewriter is showcased in the Tall Snow Globe die from MFT, which is also retired, but I cut the vellum globe bit down to size so I could fit in the new sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh's Winter Greetings set.

I also used the bough stamp in the set to add the decorative detail on the wooden base of the snow globe.

Happy Galentine's Day with The Stamp Market Little Rainbow

Happy Galentine's Day!

Every year for this special day I end up using my one and only Galentine's Day sentiment set for a fun card, and though it may be retired, it is still yielding a new sentiment for me with each use:

Stamp: MFT - My Galentine (r)
Dies: Lawn Fawn - Hearts, The Stamp Market - Little Rainbow, The Stamp Market - Postage Stamp

But first, I started out by cutting The Stamp Market's Little Rainbow die 6 times with the cardstock colours listed below.

I also applied double-sided adhesive sheets to the cardstock colours before running them through my machine to make it easier to stick all those arcs down on the shadow die.

So now I have 5 other little rainbows ready to use on some future projects. :)

Last month I made a rainbow card with supplies from Concord & 9th, and it had a bit of a postage stamp feel.

So I thought, why not give that theme another spin.

This time, it's the turn of The Stamp Market Postage Stamp cover die.

Once that was cut, I stamped the sentiment from the My Galentine MFT stamp set in my Misti and added the rainbow and heart details before attaching everything to a kraft card base.

And there had to be a little sequin sparkle to finish off the look!

Round About Hearts with The Greetery

Morning all!

With love in the air, I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a little vintage-inspired number.

If anyone still has Basic Grey papers kicking about in their stash, they are definitely a fun pairing with the elegant fonts and fancy-edged dies offered by The Greetery.

I knew they'd provide the perfect backdrop to the Round About Hearts die.

So once I had a design in mind, I created my card base using some staple Greetery die sets in my collection: the Crimped Frames and the A2 Stitched Scallops.

I love the crimped texture on these dies, and the largest scallop die is also great for adding a fancy border to paper strips.

Once I'd assembled the Round About Hearts die (cut twice from ivory cardstock and layered up to create the full frame), I cut the inner circle of the die again from the contrasting red floral paper to really make the sentiment pop.

The Tagged Elegance sentiments were originally a winter release, but they contain some useful everyday sentiments and the coordinating outline dies make them even more versatile.

Finally, I added some sparkly sequins for a little pop, and that was the card finished.

Springtime Wishes with The Greetery Always in Bloom

Morning all!

Well, the time has come in the craft calendar - time to start gathering those spring and Easter supplies to chip away at upcoming projects and not leave them until the last minute!

With any luck!

One set I wanted to use for this is the now retired Always in Bloom bundle from The Greetery:

This card was also the perfect opportunity to use some of the newer Color Crush inks from The Stamp Market together. They're very Spring friendly!

Once all the stencilling and stamping was done, I cut out the main panel with the largest A2 Stitched Scallops die and mounted it on a powder blue card base cut from KI Memories Bazzill card (those were the days!).

Well, it's one card down... more to go!

Festive Fridays: Merry & Bright Nordic Trees

Happy Friday all!

Next up on the Festive Fridays agenda, I have two cards to share featuring a lovely freebie die that The Greetery was giving away with orders for their Thanksgiving release, I believe.

As I'm in the UK, I buy all my Greetery supplies via the UK store (Seven Hills Crafts) that stocks the brand and many other US cardmaking brands. If you're in the UK and have never shopped there, I highly recommend it!

So not only did I not know about this freebie for direct customers, but I was kindly sent the exclusive die all the way from the US by a lovely fellow crafter over the pond.

The die is a miniature version of the Nordic Tree die set from Christmas 2024.

And here is the sweet mini version in action on two cards:

So first up, I created a little snowy backdrop for the tree die before sticking it down, using minty and light blue inks that were still on my blending brushes and just blending them over the middle Deco Frame in the set from The Greetery and leaving white space at the bottom for snow.

I added even more snow with splatterings of white ink over the assembled card before adding the tree and sentiment.

For the second card, there was no limit to the paint splattering!

I assembled the full card using a mix of layering dies with the Merry Mod Christmas digital papers, and actually managed to cover up a bit of the sentiment with white paint splatter in my enthusiasm.

Never mind, it just adds to the frosty effect!

Looking to Spring with Fall Folk from The Greetery

Morning all!

I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a two-for-one card featuring a rather "unseasonal" stencil set from The Greetery.

Background layering stencil sets can be so versatile, just changing up the colours can give them a whole different look.

And that's definitely true for the Fall Folk layering stencils - originally intended for autumnal card projects, this folksy floral background is great all year round.

And as I have a bad track record of getting my Spring and Easter cards made in good time, the start of February means the start of Spring/Easter crafting for me!

Originally, I just wanted to give the background stencils a Spring makeover and add a simple sentiment from the Tear Strip Tags Spring Stamp set.

But as you can see, my brain had other ideas!

Once I'd created the background with a mix of fresh greens, pinks, powdery blue, and yellow, I had a sudden lightbulb moment.

Why not use the Ribbon Frame die and stencil bundle to create two cards from one floral background?

So here is card one:

I quickly blended another panel in blush pink and added a little splatter, then I cut the Ribbon Frame into the panels to two create two card bases.

I ink blended the green Ribbon Frame and used coloured cardstock for the blue Ribbon Frame, adding the stencilled details with darker ink shades.

To complete the Spring theme, I grabbed the Bunny Kisses die - it's a really handy set and just the right size for the Ribbon Frame - plus you get a flower and little Easter eggs as accents.

Top tip: Puffy paint is great for snowy scenes, but it's also a quick and easy way to add a fluffy tail to this bunny!

Before sticking the bunnies down, I quickly added the sentiments, and hey presto! Two cards made.

Fringe Heart Birthday Wishes with Pretty Pink Posh

Morning all!

I'm back with a fun birthday card featuring a new addition to my stash supply!

It's the Fringe Heart die set from Pretty Pink Posh.

I do love a fringe effect and this die set looked super versatile, even though it's intended for Valentine's Day, which isn't a huge deal over here like it is in the US.

But hearts are perfect for many occasions, including birthdays.

I started out by picking a 4-colour palette from my Pinterest board for Color Crush combos from The Stamp Market - the cardstock colours I picked are listed below.

I set aside the assembled heart to search for the perfect sentiment in my stash, and I never need to look far with Waffle Flower's Birthday Wishes set.

Next I needed a celebratory background for the heart, so I stamped The Greetery's Sparkler Background on Pale Rose cardstock in Blush ink and cut out the background panel with the Deco Frames die also from The Greetery, mounting it on a cream card base.

Finally, I finished off the card with some sparkly sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Anniversary Wishes with Pinkfresh Studio Folk Floral Print

Morning all!

Well, a new age has dawned over on Instagram.

Gone is the iconic focus on 1:1 square photos that made Instagram, well, Instagram.

Now many accounts have had their grids changed to a 4:5 ratio, and it's taking some time to adjust to this big change. I know, a first world problem for sure, but sweeping changes out of the blue without giving users an option to retain the look they prefer... it's a real struggle.

So, I'm going to have to experiment with how I take and share my project photos here on out. I may just stick to square photos for landscape cards, but for portrait cards it looks like 4:5 is the way forward.

And here's the first project for the new grid ratio:

So this card design is actually inspired by a Riffle Paper Co. ad a friend recently shared (for their Juliet collection I believe).

Well, I found a great stencil set in my stash to try out the layout and similar colours: Pinkfresh Studio's Folk Floral Print layering stencils.

I had previously done some ink blending on a card base that I didn't end up using, so the Blush background was ready to go and totally dry before I went in with the different stencils.

Once all the steps were done, I used pencils and a white pen to add some details.

For my sentiment, I grabbed the All Kinds of Happy stamps and shadow dies from The Greetery, and used one of the Sentiment Suite Basics banners for the rest of the sentiment.

I added a few Nuvo drops as finishing accents, and there we go!
