I'm back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a simple make featuring a wonderfully dimensional die set from The Greetery's new Icing release.
Although this release focuses primarily on wrapping and decor for the festive season, the Nordic Tree is a great stand-out piece on cards too.
It's just so unique and has lots of little details and textural elements.

I always test cut new dies before putting them away, and for this set I ran the dies through my machine with some watercolour paper I had to hand.
The pieces were just too tempting to put away for another day.
So out came my Distress Oxides and blending brushes for a quick test assembly.
The binding agent in this watercolour paper really makes Oxides look very chalky – quite nice for a shabby chic look – but I also look forward to using solid cardstock in bold shades next time, so the cut details stand out more.
I simply used Rustic Wilderness, Walnut Stain, and Fossilized Amber to colour both sides of the die cuts, adding a spritz of water to move the colour around and then going in with splatters of dark pine ink over the branch areas.
The instructions for assembly are super easy and included in the pack – I just had to shorten the top of the trunk a smidge to fit it nicely on an A2 card. And once the tree was assembled minus the star, I splattered it with snowy white ink.
I found a great rustic background in my stash of printed digi papers and finished off the card with a sentiment from the Sentiment Suite Christmas set stamped on one of the banners from the Sentiment Suite Basics set.
This is definitely a card design that you can make in batches to create multiples in the busy festive period.
