DCM - Viva Magenta

Morning!

This week over on the Daring Cardmaker's blog, Rizwana is challenging us to celebrate the Pantone colour of the year: Viva Magenta!

Well, this is not a shade I use all that much, but I thankfully have some inks in my plentiful stockpile in this colour family and I just went to town with the stencils and stamps!

Other: Distress Oxide

I started out by die-cutting the main outline from the Print Shop: Spring Mix die set from white cardstock and then attached it to a sticky mat so that I could stencil all the layers of colour in the ink shades below.

I also die-cut and stamped several of the pink and magenta blooms multiple times, so I could pop them up on cardstock strips for dimension.

Next, I blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide on the front of my card, and splattered some gold and light blue paint over it.

While that was drying, I did a bit of fussy cutting to separate the top and bottom sections of the floral background.

For the bottom border I covered up where I had cut with some of the die-cut blooms, and to add dimension to the top I added more pink blooms (including one to cover up a smudge) - always handy when your mistakes can be hidden and a project doesn't go in the bin.

Finally, I stamped the sentiments from Opposites Attract and positioned them between the floral borders, adding a couple more florals for good measure - probably one too many, but who cares. lol

And there we have it, card done!
