Morning!
Welcome to a new month and a new card prompt for this challenge. :)
Here's what I hope will inspire you this time round:
And as you might guess from the image, this month's focus colour is: Aqua
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- A regal/Bridgerton theme - there are lots of elements you can use to capture this look: fancy frames, lace, silk ribbon and other trim, decorative edges whether on borders or apertures, crowns, pearls, gems, gold accents, monograms/a DIY coat of arms. The details on the cake shown would work beautifully on a card.
- It's a party - balloons, bunting, banners for sentiments, elaborate tiered cakes, perfect for a clean and simple card or for something more elaborate.
- Gold - as you can see gold pairs beautifully with this colour scheme, so why not incorporate gold heat embossing, gold mousse through a stencil, gold paint as a splatter accent, metallic/glitter gold accents?
- Frame it - like the panelling behind the cake you could use a frame detail to draw the eye to your sentiment/central card details. The fancy oval frame on the cake makes me immediately think of my oval frame dies. It doesn't need to be a physical frame, you could surround your central element with a different texture, e.g. with embossing folders that have a masked out centre? Or you could create this look if you have (DIY) embossing masks that you can combine with your embossing folders. For a simple embossed frame effect you could use a scoring board to score lines around the central element on your card.
- Buckles and bows - the gold shoes made me immediately think of those diamanté ribbon sliders that were so popular years ago, you may still have them in your stash. If not you could create a bow and glam it up with a sparkly button or brad. Or just keep your bow accent low key with some twine and a plain button.
- Earrings - I bet you're wondering how they could be interpreted on a card? Well, this would be the perfect way to feature a dangling element like a charm or some beads, anything that moves really.
- Three's the charm - create a design with three of the same/complementary elements, e.g., 3 squares, 3 circles, 3 geometric shapes, a sentiment over 3 lines, a layout divided into 3 sections.
- Time for tea - interpret that tea service with a tea theme, an Alice in Wonderland theme, take inspiration from the pattern with birds, branches, foliage, etc.
- Here comes the bride - a wedding or anniversary card, a bouquet, feature the image of a person on your card (bride and groom silhouettes, for example), interpret the veil with a vellum overlay, a shaker card containing confetti, even the gloves the bride is wearing could be interpreted as winter mittens for a Christmas card.
- Go diagonal - the angle of the car window made me think of putting a sentiment or decorative edge on the slant for a change. This could also be as simple as using diagonal stripes - whether cardstock strips, stamped stripes, or patterned paper with this design.
I hope there's something there that has caught your imagination. :)
Happy crafting!
