For this week's Daring Cardmakers challenge, we need to showcase something glamorous on our cards that makes us feel like a movie star....
Well, I'm sure that won't be obvious when you see my card at first glance. ;)
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp - Sketched Flowers, The Stamp Market - Floral Diamond, Pinkfresh Studio - Floral Diamond background
Dies: The Stamp Market - Floral Diamond, Hero Arts - Infinity Nesting Rectangles, Lil' Inker Designs - Stitched Mats: Rectangles (r)
Other: Distress Inks
But bear with me on my thinking....
I wanted to use sumptuous colours for the background and add a touch of diamond sparkle.
Also, if I was a movie star I would definitely always have fresh flowers in the house. ;)
I still had my supplies out from an earlier card project so basically adapted the design for that and made a few little tweaks to create this card. However, this time I wanted the colours to be really vibrant, so instead of Distress Oxides I used a combination of original Distress Inks blended on cardstock.
I used resist ink blending over the white heat embossed diamond background from Pinkfresh Studio and more white heat embossing for the floral frame. For the water colouring I used the reinkers for The Stamp Market ink pads I have in my stash.
This card is also a good example of when Plan A doesn't work! The diamond I'd originally stamped in the middle came out blotchy in the soft pink ink I'd used. It just didn't look right.
So Plan B was to cut out the inside with the diamond die in the accompanying die set for the floral diamond. I did that, stamped a new greeting inside but it looked really stark with the white.
So in the end Plan C was deployed. I stamped the diamond in Butter ink from Lawn Fawn on a new piece of card, cut it out with the die and stamped the sentiment again and added it to the centre.
I'm not sure the butter yellow was the perfect choice to go with, but I think it works overall. :)
Make sure you check out the glamorous projects from the rest of the design time, and play along if you can!
Happy crafting!
