Morning!
Long time no post, I know.
For the past week and a bit I have been frantically working long days on a few work-work projects and doing extra work at the weekend and a few extra hours on the evenings, so it hasn't left much time for anything else.
However, this past week has definitely been one of the most frantic for a while. However, I carved out some time on the evenings to make the following bundle of cards by special request for special friend who was going into hospital for major surgery earlier this week.
And the reason it's a special request is that I gave her a card with this particular design when I dropped round with a pamper pack ahead of her hospital stay.
Sometimes cardmaking isn't about coming up with brand-new ideas to use different things.
Sometimes it's about recreating something you've made before and thankfully with my limited crafting time this week I managed to get these cards made in time for the Daring Cardmakers challenge this week, which by some stroke of luck is all about using twine or similar on your cards.
And boy did I use twine for this:
Stamp: Flora & Fauna - Everyday Word Party
Dies: The Stamp Market - Color Block 1, The Stamp Market - Vintage Slides
In fact there are three shades of twine for the cards and I used a nice lime green twine to tie the envelopes together.
I've still got three more thank you cards to make for her, but will use a different design for those.
All the rainbow cardstock die cuts you see in this photo are actually the off-cuts from the card project I made back in January here. I'm glad I kept all the pieces for future projects.
I ended up making the cards over 3 evenings:
- Cutting all the white frames and gluing them to card blanks before filling in the colours
- Cutting all the slides from Marshmallow Cardshoppe and painting on the Tropical Teal ink like a watercolour wash to dry overnight
- Assembling the slides and stamping the sentiment with my Misti for accurate results. Adding the twine and sequins, and securing the tied knots with a little glue so that I could safely cut the trailing twine to length the next day.
I hope the recipients like them! I'll share the other “Thank You” cards I make as and when they're done. ;) I've got to work this weekend again so not sure when that will be, perhaps more evening crafting is on the cards. <g>
In the meantime, make sure you pop on over to the Daring Cardmakers blog to see the wonderful projects from the rest of the team and play along if you can!
Happy crafting!
