Let's talk about the weather

Because we just can't help it!

It's always something to complain about - It's too cold, it's too hot, when will it stop raining? Not more snow!

This April it feels like we've lived four seasons in one go.

So it makes for very good inspiration on our cards - in fact Miri has set the challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog to make a card featuring the weather!

Before we get to the card, I'm just going to share one of my favourite weather-related pieces of music to set the scene....

Now April showers here though, just a rainbow!

I luckily already had a rainbow die-cut to hand that I'd painted with watercolours, so all I needed to do was build a card around it.

I knew that lurking in my stash I still had some lovely "vintage" papers from My Mind's Eye, back when they did a collection themed on characters in nursery rhymes and I still had some scraps of this lovely raindrop paper left and the nice sunny yellow paper from the same line. I do miss these types of collections from MME, no foil or glitter to contend with here, just nice versatile patterns and a great finish for stamping on.

It was the first outing for my Double Pierced squares dies too - I think I will definitely be using these again soon. I love the fact that the double piercing means you can cut an aperture with the dots around the edge or use the dies as I have done here.

I have a little dish on my desk that contains odds and ends from projects and often spare buttons from clothing, so I'm happy to report that that dish now contains one less item, as the heart button has gone on to a better place. :)

That’s a lovely rainbow die, Nat - the full seven stripes! Love the papers you chose to go with it and the little heart button is a fab finishing touch!
