Morning!
Happy April 1st!
It's time for the next pick of colours from the Pantone Spring/Summer palette for 2017.
This month we're going green!
With Greenery and Kale.
I've chosen two prompts that reflect different aspects of where you can go with this prompt.
The possibilities really are endless as green is one of those colours that gets used so much in cardmaking and with it being just a few weeks until Easter there is plenty of opportunity to craft it into some Spring-themed projects!
So here are the visual prompts:
Tip: Greenery is the lighter shade of green in the swatch at the top of the pin and Kale is the darker green
- The above captures just how many shades of green there are before you reach white - it's the perfect opportunity to focus on the foliage in floral images and accents
- Ferns, palms, and succulents have all been real trend designs in scrapbook lines in the past year - see what papers you have that would fit the bill - you may be surprised!
- Bouncing off from those trends what about the tropical look with flamingos and pineapples? My Mind's Eye has had two collections featuring bold green colours against tropical shades
- How beautiful do the greens look against a deep woodgrain background?
- Wreaths and bouquets are a great design feature for spring - see whether you have any mulberry flowers that could be fashioned into an arrangement
- Floral and leaf doodles in white on a contrasting background could mix things up a bit
- Ombre and watercolour techniques would be a lovely way to showcase these green shades - try die-cutting sentiments or accents from watercolour paper and hand painting them
How beautiful is this design? It's full of spring imagery and the darker green really adds impact.
But what does it inspire?
- A spring scene - look at your border dies and punches to see if you can create something that truly captures the season
- Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, bluebells, the garden is blooming right now - have you got these flowers in your collection?
- Negative images - have you got stamps or embossing folders that would enable you to capture this technique where the negative image is used?
- What about heat embossing white background images onto green cardstock?
- The prompt image is just begging for a little rabbit or hare to pop out from behind the trees
I'll be getting my thinking cap on and thinking about what I'd like to make that showcases these green shades!
In the meantime, happy crafting!
