Hi everyone!
Would you believe I had my prompts all sorted for this month well in advance, in actual fact I had selected them back in January! But did I have my blog post ready to go this morning? Nope!
Anyway, despite the chilly climate there are definite signs out there that spring is on the way, so this month I'm hoping we can embrace some aspects of that with these prompts - including the Christmas card one!
Here's our main prompt for March:
- Plenty of scope for winged creatures of all varieties
- Focus on the florals
- Vintage-looking pen and ink elements (lots of Hero Arts and Ranger stamps would fit the bill!)
- Mix inked images with watercolour techniques
- Look at all that white space with just a few splashes of colour - try a clean and simple look in neutral tones with just a couple of vibrant tones for contrast
- The colour palette is so bright - I especially love the jade as an alternative to leafy greens for some floral accents
- Colouring outside the lines - why not use dies to create blocks of colour behind more detailed stamps or simply use the reverse of a (symmetrical) clear stamp to create the background to your detailed image. This technique is also a fun one to try.
- Fashion-forward - what about featuring some couture or chic ladies on your card?
As for the Christmas one, well this image really caught my eye:
So as for ides...
- There are so many different looks you could replicate on a card
- Not to mention trying to use a more muted colour palette
- Look at the folk style of the boughs on the doves of peace
- Plenty of opportunity to create a winter village scene, feature a cute critter wrapped up warm against the cold, include reindeer, etc.
- I really love the Christmas tree in the O of JOY - why not go for a greeting as the main focus and dress it up a little
Happy crafting!
