Well it's the first Friday of a new month, and you know what that means!
Over on the Daring Cardmakers blog we have a new inspiration image (chosen by the lovely Leo this month!) where you need to interpret at least 3 elements from the pic - and the colour palette is counted as one element.
Here's the image:
I had plenty of ideas whirring around in my head but they weren't translating to paper, however I did want to incorporate the old paper look of the background, the line drawn elements, plus the look of painted details, oh and the colours in some way.
Here's what I came up with:
Paper: Simple Stories
Stamps: Altenew - Painted Flowers, WPlus9 - Hand Lettered Hello
Dies: Lil' Inker Designs
Inks: Altenew
Other: 3D foam
I finally had a quick go stamping out the new Altenew crisp dye inks I ordered in May that arrived the other day. They are really lovely and stamp nicely on paper, I still need to try them on card, but so far I am impressed. I ordered the cube sets but have listed the colours separately so you know what I used. Also the hello is filled in with the coral pink ink from Altenew, I did use the lighter pink first, but it didn't stand out as well. Times like this when I could have done with an Ombre pad for that outlined "hello"!
I've still not quite got my bearings when stamping with Painted Flowers, in all the videos and tutorials I've seen you're supposed to start with the base (lightest colour) stamp, but unless I do the outline first I'm not that confident on where my stamped image is going to end up!
Ah well, it's not my best card, but it was fun playing with those layering inks! :)
Here they are - ready to go into my new Tim Holtz mini ink cube storage tins:
Have a happy weekend, and let's hope my Caroline Gardner desk calendar is right!
Wow! I do like your card a lot! Your stamped imagine looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing!

Okay I LOVE your card, I think it's awesome...the painted flowers are supposed to be a little loosey goosey so your going to just have to let up the reins a bit and just "go with it" girl ;D ...and now I NEED to know because I want these inks too.....how is the stain factor girl?
I hope you will find some play time because I would love to see some vintage flowers in these inks!
TFS!!

ohhhh, that's so lovely again! I love the stamping and think you're always doing a great job with the different ink pads. Your inspiration to create an old-paper-look is also really cool!
