Well it's been a very dreary day in these parts, so time to inject a little colour and brightness and share the projects I made for Hey Little Magpie this month. :)
Full details can be found here as well as a few tips on some techniques.
My blog post was all about using the new Jen Hadfield dies and stamps from the Cottage Living collection by Pebbles.
Here are the products from the Hey Little Magpie store that I used:
First up I wanted to use some of the motivational sentiments and text in the stamp set to create a mini canvas with the fab canvas die and easel I kindly received recently from Lil' Inker Designs. :D
Stamps: Jen Hadfield Cottage Living - Pebbles Inc
Die: Lil' Inker Designs (mini canvas die)
Other: watercolour paper, distress inks, Versafine
I totally love how simple it is to create watercolour backgrounds using Distress ink pads! Fab for ombré effects.
Sticking with the blush tones and black contrast is this very simple card - you don't need much to make a bold statement, just a journaling card and some contrasting paper. ;o)
Paper: Simple Stories
Journaling card: MME
Dies and stamp: Jen Hadfield Cottage Living - Pebbles Inc
Enamel dots: MME
Other: 3D foam
I used the larger heart in the die set to create an aperture in the journaling card and backed it with a piece of glittery gold paper. The banner die from the set was also the perfect size for the greeting from the stamp set. Love these colours together!
And now the real show piece of the die set - the fab frame which is the perfect size for larger format cards like this 5x7 number! This size frame has been missing from my die collection so I am especially pleased to have a polaroid style die for larger cards now. :)
Paper: Crate Paper, American Crafts, Pink Paislee
Dies: Jen Hadfield Cottage Living, Altenew Vintage Flowers
Stamps: Jen Hadfield Cottage Living, Altenew Vintage Flowers
Other: enamel dots, 3D foam tape
I had some stamped flowers to hand ready to put to good use on a project, and they were the perfect fit for the frame and to accent the greeting. A few enamel dots on the confetti background and the card was good to go.
I shared the technique for how to create a partially die-cut border on the Hey Little Magpie blog post, I love the look created by using word dies for this technique:
Paper: Simple Stories, Pebbles Inc, American Crafts
Dies: Jen Hadfield Cottage Living - Pebbles Inc, Lil' Inker Designs
Other: 3D foam
A bit of gold glitter behind the die-cut heart lifted the card a bit against all those pastels. Very simple.
Finally, a little hello notelet using some left-over papers:
Paper: Pebbles Inc, Crate Paper
Die and stamp: Jen Hadfield Cottage Living - Pebbles Inc
Other: 3D foam tape
I loved how the speech bubble die frames the Hello speech bubble greeting. And that solid greeting is great stamped out in a contrasting colour that isn't black! :)
And there we have it - some versatile looks with the same dies and stamps that aren't just for scrapbooking projects! :)
They are all awesome but I LOVE the vintage flowers card the best! (but all the others are a close 2nd ;)

Lovely cards Nat - I especially like the ombre watercoloring in your canvas. Did you just paint it on to the wet paper, with the Distress Inks?
My mojo has been very lacking of late, so it will be good to try something like this! Rx

Thanks girls!:D
Ruth, yes first brush over the watercolour paper with water to get it ready for painting. Then for the different washes I squished distress ink onto one of those craft sheets (mine was an oven liner from Aldi) added a bit of water to dilute to the colour I wanted and painted away. Very therapeutic! :)
