Well here are the card projects I made for Hey Little Magpie this month, all the details can be found on the Hey Little Magpie blog in my original post here. In that post and in this one I've included links to all the items from the Hey Little Magpie store that I used in each project so you can easily find them and add them to your basket should you so wish! Just click on the inlinkz product link/image in the relevant product collection. ;o)
This month all my projects are about appreciating the B-sides of patterned paper more.
I find nowadays that it's usually the B-side that sways me to add paper to my basket rather than the main design as I like to get as much use out of paper as I can - and often papers where the A-side is best left as a 12x12 page offer a very nice B-side (as in the case of the Chalk Studio II line from My Mind's Eye).
First up a card using the lovely leaf and flourish stencil from Basic Grey's Grand Bazaar line. After months of deliberating and watching lots of videos on youtube (mainly by Jen McGuire!) I finally got on the embossing paste + stencils bandwagon. This card was my first go at embossing paste and I fear I may now need more stencils! A little goes a long way so a pot of Wendy Vecchi's white embossing paste is a great investment!
Paper: Basic Grey
Stencil: Basic Grey/Hero Arts
Embossing paste: Wendy Vecchi (white)
Other: 3D foam
This paper from Basic Grey has so many lovely motifs that are great for fussy cutting.
With no greeting on the front I went looking for the perfect folksy stamp set to add a sentiment inside. :)
Supplies used:
Next up, another Grand Bazaar card - and more fussy cutting!
Paper: Basic Grey
Die: MFT
Stamp: PTI
Enamel dots: MME
Other: 3D foam
I love the zingy colours against that geometric print paper!
Supplies used:
And now a change in tone with more lovely B-sides - this time from MME with a great diagonal print paper from Simple Stories in the background:
Paper: MME, Simple Stories
Ephemera: Fancy Pants
Dies: PTI, Spellbinders
Felt: MFT
Other: Stickles, Distress Stickles, 3D foam
The ephemera pack in the Burlap and Bouquets line from Fancy Pants is actually textured with a burlap effect, so makes a nice change from completely flat ephemera. :)
Supplies used:
And next, a happy card for a certain someone's upcoming 11th birthday - loads of papers and product from Crate's Oh Darling line. The brand new product for me was the wooden embellishments - they're very pretty and I've included a picture of the contents with my blog post over at Hey Little Magpie. :)
Paper, stickers, journaling card, wooden embellishment: Crate Paper
Dies: MFT, PTI, Lawn Fawn
Stamps: PTI, WPlus9
Enamel dot: Basic Grey
Punch: Martha Stewart
Other: 3D foam
Love these big resin flowers from the Grand Bazaar line by Basic Grey, they go so well with the Oh Darling colours. :)
Supplies used:
Another Crate Paper card, this time using Maggie Holmes Styleboard:
Paper, embossing folder, layered sticker
Die: MFT
Stamp: WPlus9
Enamel dot: Studio Calico
Other: sewing machine, 3D foam
I've become a bit of a layered sticker junkie of late - and the Styleboard stickers were no exception! I just love them on card projects. :) And once again the embossing folder has had an outing with vellum. I've yet to use it with anything other than vellum, but I love the look of it used this way. :) The little "hello" is snipped from the Inspiration paper sheet from the Styleboard line and went perfectly with the theme!
Supplies used:
Well that's it for this month's projects - I wonder what new stash will be out in time for September's! :)
Fab cards - I'm going to be looking more closely at my B-sides for sure!! ;)
Hope you had a good hols BTW, Rx
