Admittedly it comes from a bottle of flavouring... but I made strawberry cupcakes last night from my Mary Berry handbook. Well, my fan oven has managed to flummox even Queen Mary as the temp was definitely too high and result in a few exploding cupcakes and next time I will need to use regular-sized cases not the larger "Hummingbird-friendly" ones.
But the recipe is a chuck all the ingredients in and mix job - which I like!
I decided to mix it up a bit and try my new Silverspoon strawberry flavouring and my Wilton gel colours:
The icing didn't quite go far enough for the whole batch, so the poor little cake that was left uniced was my test cupcake. Must say it tasted very good and was nice and pink inside.
Hope the girls enjoy them this afternoon!
Oooh they look fab. I could eat one right now :-). How was the strawberry flavouring? I was thinking of getting some to try, would you recomend it?

As flavourings go it ain't bad. I wasn't sure how much to add to the sponge mix instead of the vanilla extract, so did more or less equal measures. The bottle has instructions for how much to add to icing mix, but you can easily taste test that. :) It's not like you can get strawberry flavouring another way, like you can with fresh lemons and oranges, so it's a nice flavouring change. :)

I've blended strawberries and added to buttercream which is lovely.

Well, I am hoping to make bubblegum cupcakes soon after Becky popped round with one today. Just need the bubblegum flavouring and a few others... ;o)
