Yesterday ma and I ventured to Newcastle for our annual pre-Christmas browsing and usually successful shopping trip.
But my, I don't know what was going on but we were rather disappointed in the lack of stuff we wanted to buy.
Maybe we are just too picky or too tight with our money! LOL But Despite all the lovely Christmas decorations nothing really called out to us and said "buy me" - everything we liked was just too much or not unique enough and the most disappointing thing was we didn't find a nice little set of plates like the ones we got in John Lewis last year (£12 for the box of 4 little plates). Remember these?
Nothing in a similar price bracket this year or anything as cute and original.
But there were nice things in John Lewis especially, I loved this sparse little woodland tree decorated with these cute "you could make them at home for less if you were talented" decorations:
Lots to choose from, the stuff I really liked was £8+ for a bauble!
Then we headed upstairs to the Cushions as there was a particular one I wanted to see in person, this is where the crying bit comes in!
Yes, I love this cushion so much, but it's way out of my price range for a cushion. :o( And I haven't got a specific place I'd put it... if there was a red one though....
But there is an orange one, but not red enough and the green is much nicer!
Now if some random person wanted to buy me a cushion I wouldn't have said no! And there were many "wouldn't mind having" examples to be found:
That's about it for pics, the one Christmas decoration I did buy was in M&S, a sparkly polar bear... and I was tempted by the John Lewis prelit mistletoe garland, but how many garlands does one person need? lol
The other thing I bought was a Gisella Graham Russian Doll door stop for my bedroom, it was less than £8 in Fenwick and I had to have it! Can't find pics online so will have to take a photo when she's in her new home.
And I will be getting a very nice Philosophy gift set for my name day/Christmas present off my mum:
Can hardly wait! :oD
Paperchase have opened up in Chemsford (thank you god) and had some really cute little plates and matching mugs in last weekend. I have figured that with the expensive xmas decs - I add a couple to my collection each year. Its the only way I can afford them too. Have fun.....
