In particular my favourite tune: Money, Money, Money...
After this week's house repairs I have a feeling this will possibly be a reflection of my imminent future (well, maybe not working all night and all day!) - in fact it is probably the anthem of many a new home owner. LOL
I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay
Ain't it sad
And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy man
I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball...
That's quite a nice plan, yet I won't be banking on it!
But this week seems to have passed in a whirl of builder/roofer activity, yet doesn't feel like I am that much closer to moving in - patience, patience! But that's probably because after the damproofing in the lounge (very nice re-plastering job there too) the whole of the downstairs (despite many dust sheets) looks like a volcano has erupted near by - there is a layer of chalky dust over everything - and I mean everything! The re-plastering needs to settle and dry properly, so will be sweeping and hoovering away over the weekend.
Plus we discovered that the back guttering didn't actually drain to its own down pipe, so that has been taken care of this week - can I just say my new guttering and down pipe are gorgeous. How you can love guttering I have no idea, but compared to how it looked before and the fact there is a great big bit of down pipe now attached to the wall I love it! It looks totally period as well, and just makes the back look neater - they've made such a wonderful job of it. Alas due to the location and height of the conservatory it cost more to hire the scaffolding to do it, than the actually guttering aspect of it. But these are the things you definitely need sorted before moving in and definitely before winter.
So aside from those practical things, I have also been thinking about getting some brush screens for the back yard to cover the walls (and the peeling flaking paint) and make it easier for potted climbers to climb up the wall - all in good time there, but since the decking is looking really nice now I have been having a million and one ideas about what I want to do in the back.
Hope to have some pics of things soon, but there's not much point when certain areas look like a bomb has gone off! It's been nice seeing things coming together and it's a relief to get the big jobs crossed off before moving in and hopefully not having to worry about them again! :o)
lol Natty, you just found the new homeowners theme song.. " money, Money, money" Seems like thats all your doing right now is spending, but soon, you will be RELAXING and ENJOYING~ Please post pics when you can, and don't forget the before and after ones for your scrapbook!
xoxo
