I still can't quite believe it, but early this morning Monty was hit by a car and killed. Thankfully it was swift and he didn't suffer for long. But it is little comfort when faced with the realisation that our big softie of a ginger cat is no longer around to pester people for a scratch under the chin, or to lead unsuspecting humans to the cat food cupboard for a different meal choice, to make you hold your breath when he yawned in your vicinity due to the fishy breath, or to leave woodland debris about the furniture when sleeping off a hard night out on the town...
I keep expecting him to run down the path to greet me when I get home or come through the living room door to settle down for a nap. He's the only cat I know who loved being picked up and cuddled for absolutely ages and actually would fall asleep in your arms. One of a kind.
All I do know is that life is lonelier without him. There is a big gap now and just no Monty to fill it.
So sorry Nat.

Nat I am so sorry to hear about this. Our furry friends own a piece of our hearts forever. I share your pain, about 2 weeks ago I had to put down our Cleo, he had been with my son for 17 years.. so sad. Extra kitty prayers going up for Monty and you!
Love,
Lorry

Was Monty the Kool Kitty of your blog title? Sorry he's not with you any more.

Hi Nat,
Oh, I'm so sorry for you... I'm a cat lover myself, and have lost my dearest Cookie cat a few years ago... we have another cat now, but I still miss her...
Hang in there!

I don't know you, but I happened by your site through a link and I just want to say I'm so sorry for your loss. I have tears in my eyes thinking of the pain you must be feeling and I'm so sorry. I know that feeling of emptiness well and the only good thing is, your pain will ease a little every day. And if it doesn't ease for a long time, then that's totally normal. I still cry for one of my dogs who died last year. Even if some people don't understand how hard this is for you, just remember that there are others who do. I'll be thinking of you and Monty. Hang in there.

I echo Sherrill's comments. I arrived at your blog via UKS link and am so sorry to hear about Monty. You must be feeling so miserable. I've lost 2 cats through road accidents but thankfully my 3 current cats are so far living long happy lives. I still think about Ella and Louis that I lost and the emptiness it leaves. All I can say is that time does make it easier. Lost but never forgotten

Nat,
I've only just seen this (crAzy month!) and wanted to say how sorry I am. I know how much it hurts. My Mum had to put one of her dear cats to sleep this week, and we are all so sad to think we will never see her again.
