For the wretched toy of my youth today has been found:
See I said it looked geeky and was red, blue and yellow!
And his name? Maximus!
In the loft clear-out no Ladybird books have been found. :o( It is a total mystery, but amongst the masses of items to go through, an old Green Shield stamp catalogue was unearthed and what did it contain?? Well a name at last for Maximus and quite a few other familiar items!
Oh my word - one of my all time favourites right through to my mid-teens! I never got bored of this - well OK it was really tedious cutting out the circles to start designing on, but faaaaaaaar superior to spirograph. :oD
MY Crayola caddy - the big square one... Now this was obviously wasted on the child in this photo as I remember often resorting all of my crayons into colour order (look at the illogical mess hers are in!) and making sure there were nice sharpish points to them - no dull edges!
Had completely forgotten about this until I saw it - I remember the stethoscope worked really well, and the syringe was huuuuuge!
So that's what it was called.... tsk...
OMG Nat, I had ALL those toys except the Maximus. Glad you found out what it was! It does look very similar to major Morgan!

I don't remeber having Dial-a-Design over here... just Spirograpgh. Same with Lights Alive. Ours was called Lite Brite. No wonder I kept getting those wrong. LOL

I have to say it was rather disappointing when I went to various stores looking for those paper dolls to see that the Crayola section doesn't have half the stuff I loved as a kid in it. No boxes of 48 crayons - shocking. Only a few chalks... they have been replaced by load of felt tip pens and crayons in plastic cases.... sigh.... But I was almost tempted to sniff the crayons they did have - I used to love the smell of Crayola crayons! hehe

I had that big square Crayon Caddy - I loved it! I too insisted on them being in colour order, and I hated it when I had to tear any the paper off!

Yep Kristen, it was always tragic when it came to having to tear the wrapper to sharpen a crayon... there are days now when I check out the Crayola crayons and think how woefully poor the colour choice is for today's kids. I remember always getting the big packs and coveting the 72 crayon set! :oD
Will have to go check out that link! hehe
