Enrolment day!

Well it started off with me finally deciding that YES I am going to make the time and do Shimelle's new class - Journal Your Christmas.

Naturally, being the kind of person I am - super seasonal stash hoarder extraordinaire - I have lots of stuff to choose from and with any luck I will go all out there and use it up!

However, I just had to get myself a new album for the occasion - classic, timeless, ya know what I'm saying... Enter the Making Memories 9x9 cloth Asphalt album with label holder on the front. Alas not available in a smaller size, but perfection for me! ;oD

Then of course there was the whole cardstock thing... well I had to have KI white cardstock and er... ordered an unopened pack of the stuff... can never have too much of the white KI cardstock - it's ace. But 9x9 probably won't fit in my printer for direct printing as the Epson D88 is a bit less generous in that respect than my C80 was. :o( Never mind, it'll take a bit of creativity, that's all! hehe

Also enrolment day at the gym.

Yes, that's right.

I. Have. Joined. a. Gym.

I have.

I even have the ghastly photo ID in duplicate to prove it! So I spent 1.5 hours there tonight, tour, filling forms, questions yadda yadda... that's longer than a class and session on the machines!

So off I go Tuesday night for my proper induction and intro to how to use the machines and not get stuck jogging on one for 3 hrs, etc. etc. Then I have a personal trainer for a bit as part of my bog standard membership - so have all those health checks and BMI and weighing sessions to do. They don't really freak me out anymore as I know what I weigh and as long as it comes down I couldn't give a monkeys!

Well, I've got my advent calendar to the ready for tomorrow, and hope to be in seasonal bliss tomorrow night, well after my driving lesson since it's a "en route home" lesson. Wish me luck!

Oh and it's time to do my Blackpool Illuminations moment on the blog and switch to KI Alpine!

Christmas shopping

Don't bother!

Hecky thump - I ventured out today in a break from work - it wasn't even that late into the day either. The Boots Perfume department was just HEAVING! I couldn't believe it... I'd gone in just to get a few more sniffs in of Stella in Two (mmm) and also see what the Euphoria Blossom scent from CK was like compared to the lovely Euphoria that I have - yummm!

Well I saw the crowds and turned round, there were people just everywhere so I headed to Smiths to stock up on my tissue paper - I just love compact gifts wrapped in tissue paper - and bought some nice hot pink and aqua packs - these totally match my tags made so far so that's good. Also bought some nice smallish envelopes to get my little cards made.

Then headed to Body Shop but for once I didn't come out with anything I really really wanted, just a new scrubby sponge and some facial loofah thingies as my skin is not liking this cold weather at all! But I have had great results with my Dr Ricaud eye cream - it's even better than eye rescue and I just dab it in before bed and the next morning there is no puffiness, no dark smudges, no dry patches, just nice soft eyes! Love it! I totally recommend Dr Ricaud products, am a real convert now. And considering the items I really wanted (exfoliant, eye cream, make-up remover) were all in the half price sale I am well chuffed as they also sent me free foundation - yet to try it but it smells lovely. I had a bad experience with some YSL touche eclat that started stinking and reeking in the pen nib bit after only a few weeks of being opened. Ugh it is awful and you just don't want it anywhere near your face! But this foundation smells exceedingly fresh and is very gentle on the skin.

Am also hankering after some of that face serum I borrowed off ma recently for Christmas, it's got essential oils in and you put it on before bed, and in the morning my skin is just so smooth and still moist (not oily at all). It's £30 for a bottle so it's got to be on the Christmas list. ;o)

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes Body Shop, yes well after my little spend there I ventured to Binns where the perfume dept was rather quiet so I did lots of trying and sniffing. No Euphoria Blossom, BUT they had Stella in Two in Eau de Toilette, which I'd not tried before. And it's fab (much prefer it to the Parfum I tried in Debenhams last week), smells like a cross between Eau d'Issey and the original Stella scent. It was a bit pricey in Binns for 25 ml. So I ended up going on ebay and have purchased the 50 ml bottle with 2 free handbag spritzers of the EDP for less (including postage). Not bad!

My DVDs are here from Amazon and need watching so off I pop!

Making Memories really is the best!

I cannot believe it, but I've just received my replacement trimmer!

The one I bought in the UK was missing the magnets on the back that hold the flap in the closed position, and I just wrote to them to ask if they had any magnets they could send and failing that just some direction on what kind of magnets they were as I loved my trimmer so much there was no way I was giving it up for a couple of missing magnets. Well, they wrote back and said they needed my address for my replacement trimmer as unfortunately they didn't have the magnets on their own and they would be happy to send me a replacement, I kind of protested at this a bit as it seemed far too much bother in my opinion!

BUT I have just opened up the Fed Ex box and tried the new one out and it cuts like a dream and also shuts with the magnets, etc. etc. Plus they included some rather gorgeous goodies that are just way OTT like the Halloween page kit with papers, embellishments, stickers and ribbons and the vintage Christmas kit with the same amount of stuff in! Wow! That's all I can say, WOW!!

I feel like fainting, never mind dancing!

I'm looking forward to playing with those Christmas papers, and may just have to save the Halloween kit for some suitable photos... from somewhere! Not sure where but maybe I need to just have my photo taken next year in the Halloween department or better yet, be in the States for Halloween! ;o)

So yes, am off to write a nice thank you e-mail to them as I felt it was the biggest example of customer service and care that I've ever seen.

The magic of multitasking

Well low and behold this evening I have managed to combine the latest card dare with a project I needed to turn my attention to for a friend. All that hand beading during the cyber crop left me wanting to play on a card, so I used the same papers on this card, lots of beads, stickles for extra sparkle, the card front is cut away along the wavy pink line so the flowers are actually on the inside. :oD

Anyway off back to the cyber crop chat room. Work tomorrow hi-ho-hi-ho and still many many many layouts from my class to check out! Eeek but you all were busy!

A few more classes

So here's my take on Audrey's class that I did last night. Liked the class, but I just had problems getting what I had imagined I wanted to do in my head down onto the LO... Not so happy with my colour choices in the end... it just doesn't work like I hoped it would. I ended up messing about with some dingbats and created an admittedly wonky frame onto transparency... but hey ho. It's nice to have another photo in the album rather than in a box.

Next one is the only one I've managed today (shame on me and all those who interrupted me in mid-creative flow to do menial jobs gaaah!!!). It's the Prof. Sprout class by Sarah that was to use sewing and hand-cut titles... well I improvised a little with my stitch stamps and stitchy papers, but hand-sewed the beads on for a bit of accent, I fancy sewing some beads onto a card I need to do later, adds a bit of glam and sparkley eh? hehe... Also a load of BF stamps, AL stamps, QK Studio, Heidi Swapp chipboard letters, and MM rub-ons.

Celebration Village had a lovely little market on the day we ventured out for breakfast (French toast you remember?) anyway Ang took this shot of the bag stall that I had to stay away from as I really didn't need any more bags, even gorgeous ones like this. And especially that white and black one with the pink ribbon since I had matching paper once upon a time with the exact same print. But never mind, Chris was happy to get a bag... or 2. ;o)

Another ace class

Here's my attempt at Shimelle's composition class - Magic in the Middle.

Really loved this as it's out of my comfort zone in a number of ways, WHITE space and leaving it white, colour combo - I love it but I usually shy away from such bright contrasts in LOs picked from my head, and just the keeping it simple tack. :oD

Used BG Gypsy papers including the background - mmmmmm, American Crafts Eddie, Jack, and mini marks rub-ons, MM rub-ons and the fonts are ChaletBook for the main journaling and Susie's Hand for the strips.

Main journaling reads:

"Sunday morning and no jet lag we headed off to Celebration Village (along with much of Orlando!) for breakfast. And what a break-feast it was!

I'd always wanted to try authentic US French toast and I was not disappointed with the menu. I can say that I am definitely a convert and seeing the size of the pancake stack Kirsty and I both definitely made the best choice!

Cyber Crop mayhem

You'd think I'd have got more done what with the first class being mine! But noooo I didn't sit down to scrap properly until after 9 and here's all I have to show for it! LOL

My interpretation of Lynz's fab Magical class - sans sequins I am ashamed to say.

Driving lesson tomorrow morning then back to the scrapping hovel for more fun and games!

Euphoric Thursday

Well wouldn't you know it, 40 minutes before I was due to head out for some afternoon shopping I got a call through for an urgent project due tomorrow - thankfully not toooo many hours work so I still managed to go shopping as planned! Oh yes!

And surprise surprise of the day I bought myself some new perfume. Now usually I leave this to Christmas lists and the like. But I felt it was time for something evening-y - what with a few of my heavier scents having finished off not so long ago. Well Debenhams had some nice offers on, ones that I didn't realise about until I was at the till about to pay for what I bought.

Nat's Winter season scent is back to good old Mr C. Klein. Euphoria! Mmmm - very nice clean smell, a bit heavier than my usual fayre, but not too strong and spicey - and it doesn't give me a headache! Yay! And best of all, for the same price as the 30 ml eau de parfum I got the eau de parfum and the 100 ml body lotion, in a nice box too!

Was very tempted by Stella McCartney's other scent - Stella In Two, but I have a couple of bottles of Stella still to use up and it's still got that signature Stella scent, just a bit spicier. So thought I'd try something new and see how I went. I still have nearly a full bottle of DKNY - her original scent, but it tends to make me sneeze now and I only ever wear it occasionally as when I received it for Christmas it actually smelt differently on my compared to when I tried it in the shop before hand.

Anyway back to topic - work has been finished for the day, just need to review it tomorrow after it's been proof-read and off it goes in time for me to get a "commission piece" out of the way. :oD

I also need to scan the card for Janie and Luke's wedding. I figure she is waaaay too busy to be visiting these parts of blog-land what with a wedding in just over a week! So I will upload it sooner or later... maybe before the big day, maybe not - we shall see... hehe

And along with the above Green Bling selection I made up the following design from the Lisa Bearnson kit - I figure I need to make up a set of those each day to stay on target. :oS

I *heart* my scanner!

Why?

Because it doesn't take all that long to scan in those bloomin' cards and tags from Saturday's crop. Oh and it's actually handling the Bazzill bling quite well - looks far nicer than normal pearlescent cardstock in scans. :o)

So here's a little montage of what I managed to get done Saturday:

Bit dark with that grey really - that's only for the very retro-receptive out there! But I am digging that pink bling - it's a really nice shade in real life, great that I have more than one sheet - eh Tree! :oP

Anyhoo, best crack on - am potentially having some time off the rest of this week as it's quiet at work so am working from home - when I get what I need to do done then I can get on and play with the stash.  Let's hope some inspiration strikes as I fear I have fallen into the creative rut again! Save me! hehe

Oh GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

I am getting so narked off with typepad comments of late... On my home PC I suddenly cannot post comments on any typepad blog without the connection timing out. All other pages are fine, reading comments no problem, loading typepad blogs no problem... yadda yadda but leave a comment on a typepad blog and it just sits loading, loading loading and doing bugger all!!

I could scream!

To top it off, the top light in the scrapping hovel is flickering so badly - there is nothing wrong with it, it's just having a flickering session... needless to say when someone is brought in to look at it it behaves good as gold and is nice and steadily bright.

But yes, this post comes to you from one P***** off blogger!

I am now going to investigate comments on a different PC in the house and see what happens.

Zonked!

Had a rather productive time out our Christmas crop today - but am feeling a tad overwhelmed by the amount of Festive stash I have - oops Tree will be tutting loudly at that comment!

But I managed a few cards and tags - too tired to upload them today also feeling decidedly under the weather now with a bad head ache so I may be a real wuss and disappear to bed to watch TV where it is nice and snuggly under the duvet.... ahhhh bliss.

Hope to be back to the Christmas card production line tomorrow and just have fun with the stash I have and get the printer revved up! :oD

++Fit to drop!

Do you know all those hours since my last post and I've still not finished the pre-crop challenge 100%. I have one thing left to do on it, but need daylight so that I can take a photo of the hidden bit and try and show it in its full glory... Quite pleased with how its all turned out, but quite a bit away from my original vision, if you can call it that! LOL

So I am more or less ready for the Christmas crop tomorrow - basically resorted to the "If it's in that box/bag, it's coming" method of packing. Fingers crossed something vital is not missing.

Am going to grab a shower after QI - I am still reeling from last night's Grey's Anatomy it was such an amazing episode and yes I too did cry, come on - when do I NOT cry??? Hope Tree has managed to watch it since she recorded it and wouldn't let me speak on MSN during the ads... hehe

Just taking a test spin

My eagerly awaited orders arrived today - firstly the new MM trimmer, my Artbase bling and a few other things order, and a couple more orders of small bits and pieces!

So the perfect excuse really to test out the trimmer was the most recent card dare at the Daring Cardmaker's blog - well the trimmer does cut like a dream. Bit of a nightmare to get in the huuuuge packaging - had to use wire cutters and pliers to detatch the big staples. I do love this trimmer, the only thing is that it's missing this magnetic catch on the underside to keep the trimmer in the folded position when it's not unfolded (as it says on the back of the blurb). So I've caught my fingers a few times picking the trimmer up. But I am sure this can be easily solved by purchasing some magnet bars... just where to get them is the question!

Anyway, yes on with the show. Here's my response to this week's dare for a manly card with ribbon... Bit straightforward and plain I know, but have a thousand things going on (so much for a relaxing day off - a load of DIY issues, people getting locked out of cars, being requested to assist on said DIY issues while buried under a load of stuff that needs sorting, having to hold the fort while this that and the other are getting done! Leave me alone people!!!).  But I won't bore you with that. Needless to say, the pre-crop challenge has not been started yet.

I managed to get the day off tomorrow - finished my project ahead of time and nothing new has come in just yet so I can finally, FINALLY, get on and do the pre-crop challenge tomorrow.

I spent some of this evening in magpie mode sorting out new homes for the vintage ephemera that I managed to order - god knows what the credit card statement is going to look like - hoo-boy!

And tonight, oh yes, tonight is finally, FINALLY, that episode of Grey's Anatomy - feels like an eon has passed, need to know what happens pronto!

Also I had a little spree in TJ Hughes today. I felt the need for some new bedding and I just love that their Coloroll department constantly has gorgeous stuff at over 50% off, so I purchased £82 of bedding sale price - over £200 real price. I know it is a lot but there are new covers, divan trims, pillow cases and sheets in that and this stuff is just great quality and absolutely gorgeous.

Ahhhhhhh a lie in, and hopefully a leisurely day and with any luck the arrival of my new MM precision trimmer - I hope I made the right decision there! where it'll live I have no idea right now. :oS

And now for something completely different

Well I spotted a little extra challenge on the Daring Cardmakers blog so decided hey, why not - I needed to make a card for a certain someone.

So the challenge:

• 1 Tag - check!
• 2 different ribbons or fibres - check!
• 3 different patterned papers - check!

Bazzill bling to make the blank then some MM cosmo papers - my still have a lot of those to use. Rhonna and Sasafrass Lass flower stamps, QK rub-on and that's about it really.

So, off to catch up with my Sims now since there's not point starting anything else - time to tidy up!

What did I tell you?

Lesson 3 apparently WAS the ideal lesson for me to start driving from the front door and in second gear up our steep hill... crikey... So I drove all the way to work from home this time, but as soon as we got near work we went off into the back streets where there are lots of terrace house and lots of left turns for me to practise just getting round corners... eek... I have never stalled so much in my life... well ok in the last 2 lessons! But mirror, signal, manoeuvre... yadda yadda I just have to get the rhythm of clutch up and roll a bit better rather than clutch up too far and stall!

Anyway, next lesson is Saturday morning of the cyber crop so no boozing Friday night.... as if I would! Too many syns anyway.

F-f-f-f-freezing!

This is definitely no time for the heating to be playing up and the boiler to decide it needs 3 hours to heat water while the shower is out of action.

My hands are purple and my fingers are going numb... yow...

But there is something to warm my heart - I have managed to extend my vintage ephemera search a bit further with some purchases today of 7Gypsies hardware (v. difficult to track down these days in the UK) and some other Becky Nunn embellishments, looking forward to seeing those. Plus I now have some lovely hinges from my emergency stash fiend - Tree. I have earmarked them for a future project as they are lovely bright copper Art Nouveau style. Also I managed to get a half-day at work today since I was a bit ahead with my current project and another one had been cancelled before being ordered so it worked out OK for me.

That meant Ang and I could make quick on the spot plans for lunch in town and a trip to a local arts and crafts shop that is closing down. They are just going to re-open in a business unit place where they have more room for workshops and they are really successful with their own line of art stamps. 50% off what was left in the store, but I resisted the stamps as I knew I'd not really have the right projects for them even though they are totally lush. But I managed to get a few small items from 7Gypsies (silver small frames for their Jewellery line), a circle punch (about time), and some Ranger Memory frames. So that was good, but I have just put in a couple of orders of small items from Stamp Attic and Papier Valise - those essential bits and bobs for all my heritage needs. ;o)

Anyway I am hoping that by 8.15 I can hop in the bath then will be quick to hop in bed after my bath and snuggle under the duvet.... with my current book - sorry to disappoint! :oP

Back behind the wheel tomorrow morning, I just hope Guru Dave (my instructor) doesn't decide Lesson No. 3 is the ideal one for me to actually start driving from the front door since there is a rather steep hill to negotiate! :oS

It was inevitable really

With all this frantic purchasing of heritage stuff from around the world - yes heck knows what the customs charges are going to be like and if I will see any of this stuff before Christmas - I would finally end up reconnecting with The Stash!

Hurrah!

I decided that I fancied trying out my sorta recent purchase of Bazzill bling cardstock and Stickles The Sequel.

And lo and behold I found the perfect target for my creative plans.

Daring Cardmakers weekly challenge

This week it's to create a card which uses a different language - so the perfect excuse to start on the Christmas cards destined for Poland. Alas limited on fonts that use the accents, but not to fear - dear Teen font comes to the rescue! Also can't make lumpy cards to send to the relatives over there as they often get opened and go astray if they look/feel anything out of the ordinary, even if they turn out to not contain money!

Anyway, here's the creation using KI colours - naturally - Banana Frog Retro Snowflake and Simple Greetings stamps.

And I really now must go and finish my book and go to sleep - I was such a wreak today it was unreal. :os

Well so much for good intestions!

So all weekend since Friday I have been planning to sit down and do my layout for the pre-crop challenge on UKS. It even started looking hopeful this morning, I actually printed out the photos after scanning them in and photoshopping them to tidy them up a bit. I was looking forward to getting on.

That was until I raided the stash in search of appropriate items, only to find I have virtually no vintage hinges or decorative frames left. So we nipped to B&Q and various other DIY places for stuff other than hinges (honest) and still came away with nothing for my LO. Just a couple of very nice lampshades and lights... erm.

So that has left me googling, ebaying and generally searching frantically for any of the following on sale:

Life's Journey metal art: frames, hinges, tag frames and the like

Karen Foster hinges: nickle etc. etc.

Any Jest Charming embellishments that fit the vintage look

If anyone sees an abundance of these or even a small variety please let me know, am verging on desperation here.

And no, my layout is not done, it's not even started except for the photos now being ready!

Sheesh - here's hoping I manage it one evening this week, mind I'd not be able to upload it anyway. LOL

So I suppose I should straighten out the hovel as there are discarded storage boxes and piles of packets of "stuff" all over the place! :oS

My oh my!

I cannot believe we have to wait a whole week to see what happens next on Grey's Anatomy... eeek!

Talk about tension....

To keep my mind off it I have managed to get the next in the Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts from the library. Dance of the Gods, so one I finish the Katie Fforde I can escape a bit again. lol

Also I saw that "So You Think You Can Dance" is coming to Living on Sunday at 6 p.m. Must definitely watch it! :oD

Dentists in the morning then working from home the rest of the day, and then - hurrah - the weekend!!!

I have restocked on chili ingredients including yummy refried beans so have the weekend menu sorted. Bliss!

Skeery but cool!

Today started off quite interestingly in that it was my second driving lesson just before eight this morning. First time let loose on the roads. And completely unbeknownst to me my instructor was intent on me actually driving myself to work - I didn't twig until I was actually told to take a right and go on the A66!!! Flamin' Nora. The A66 at peak morning rush hour, complete with 30 mph roadblocks for the ever present roadworks and bumper huggers, including huge lorries.

But I did it, I drove to work!!! :oD First time on a dual carriage, first time changing gears while pootling, first time navigating roundabouts and changing lanes and all that.

God knows what he has planned for next week! :oO I think I still need a venture out this weekend to practise my clutch manoeuvres as I am a bit like builder bob with my lead foot there. lol

And how cool is the UKS cyber crop forum??? I is amazing, and I just knew I'd be in Slytherin... Tree knows I rather like Snape for all his faults... hehe And yes my dark arts can come out to play. And how fitting that my Notions and Potions class fits in so well with the Slytherin bunch. :oD

But now I am just unzipping a load of downloads from The Sims Resource - I've been very lax in getting custom content that isn't just objects so I resubbed again and now have tons of amazing stuff to integrate in my game. So since it's soooo cold tonight, I feel like doing nowt else apart from getting this all unpacked and checking it out in-game. hehe

Fair enough my Crate paper and Hambly print order has arrived, and a new DVD to watch from Amazon rental... but nope, I'm off for a shower then checking the Sims booty out!

Vroom

So once again the weekend shot by, and I can't even claim to have done anything interesting. Just a bit clear-out of cupboards, lots of sorting, a fair amount of work, and a dodgy tum - joy!

So didn't get out to the fireworks or anything, watched a couple of DVDs and had the music on fairly loud for good measure. I managed to make a couple more cards using the scraps from other projects here - my oh my is that purple cardstock looking familiar by now! hehe

And of course I am still loving the triangle trees, this one using that rusty pickle Grinchmas stamp :oD

Promise the next lot will be triangle free... well maybe! hehe

Also during the weekend I had my stickles order arrive, lots of lovely stickles to play with and liquid pearls so I was raring to go, but then felt yucky and not in the mood. Am hoping to get back into it tomorrow night, but will see. Oh and I weakened and bought the new Crate Avenue papers and some Hambly seasonal fayre (Tree's fault - mind she wasn't around, so it's doubly her fault)...

Just need to go parcel up some bookcrossing books next! Oh and must remember to return Wife in the Fast Lane to the library. That was a great read, I had put off starting it for a while, but once I started it found it hard to put down, so finished it the same day I started it! Am hoping to get back to He Loves Lucy later on tonight, but it's America's Next Top Model, and you know what a sucker I am for that show! :oD

Panic over!

So I have just spent the best part of the last hour searching frantically for a missing stamp from my lovely Banana Frog Retro Snowflake set. My FAVOURITE stamp... the little snowflake... gaaaah I even tipped out my scraps bin and went through it to make sure it'd not got muddled up and chucked out by mistake.

But no, I have finally found it, stuck to the back of the hero arts catalog I had out when having a separate panic moment!

Big sigh of relief.

So One of the cards from this evening is still trying, but I managed to have a play with the stickles, colorbox queues, and even my liquid pearls.

And another in the same style sorta... but don't like the purple ink on purple... the grey in the first one worked better. :D

Anyway Grey's Anatomy time - also need to shift a very sleepy moggy off my artbin boxes... grrr...

Driving along in my automobile

Well not mine yet or anything.

But I had my first lesson today!! Woohoo!

Apparently my steering is very, very good which I was told by 3 different people is something nigh on impossible to teach, so I am happy that at least that is taken care of more or less. A bit wobbly at the start but we were going round and round a car park quite well at the end. Just need to grasp the clutch interaction a bit better and be lighter on the gas at first - no more than 2 revs. However I didn't stall or anything and really enjoyed it, even when a van tried to budge me out of the way when overtaking a parked lorry.

Calm, calm, calm.

I only swore once. So not bad for a lesson in the dark I say.

And a total coincidence that I found out that my driving instructor also taught Helen, who used to work with me, so I've just e-mailed her in Oz to tell her and pass on his message. Just love co-incidences like that.

So next outing for those that need to stay off the streets is Wednesday a.m. - ten to eight! You have been warned.

Right, off to catch a spot of dinner and would you believe it, this day has been rather nice for my brother who got the results of his Masters, he's now an MA with merit. :oD

I also received one of my stickles orders (the one with liquid pearls) and on top of that KI Joyful and Alpine Woohoo!!!
