I have unpacked and repacked my suitcase again tonight to try and get a little less weight going on in there... hm... I basically took out 1 lipstick, 1 eyeshadow pallet, and 1 underwired bra... yep, that's really going to tip the scales isn't it! ha!
So that leaves the following stuff still to pack:
Umbrella (who knows...)
Errrrr... oh yes nail varnish
And I am sure there is something else... Oh yes, brother's address...
So I made the final trip to Boots today, and came out with more fake tan stuff to try! OMG the David Dickinson of the NE here... I am taking the Dove with me to finish off the bottle... but I couldn't resist the buy 1 get 1 free for the L'Oreal one and it smelt very nice... so may try that on my arms and decolletage tonight. St. Tropez on the legs seems to be doing OK (I still have not mastered the applying with latex gloves thing... note to self buy more gloves) but in the glare of the bathroom lights it seems fine....
At the rate I am going this blog will turn into the fake tan moisturiser review page!
It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO close and for the last 15 minutes I was convinced Syed was NOT going to get the chop, but The Sugar came through and has kept The Badger in!!!! Yeeeeeeeeey there is hope!
And my hope is that The Badger kicks Paul's annoying ass to the curb! LOL
So while I am away next week I want you all rooting for The Badger - get those pompoms out!!! Go Ruth!Go Ruth!
Anyway, I have done nothing holiday-related tonight except think of things to add to my stash wishlist such as more clear stamps and all the Urban Couture rub-ons... since I have a pack of heritage photos to take to our crops I think they will be perfect since I won't have my printer or robo - no way am I THAT organised!
Finished my book tonight, so have this strange comedic chicklit about vampires to start on - let's hope it wasn't a duff buy, but it was rec'ed by amazon based on my Rachel Gibson and Julie Ortolon reads...
Anyway, last night's St. Tropez on the legs was almost right, a bit hit and miss and seriously dark in places! So not too natural looking... But I have done another exfoliation and had another go and come Saturday with any luck it should look natural... even if it's 4.30 a.m. which is when I need to be out the door and en route to Newcastle airport to get to Gatwick. Why does fake tan look perfect on so many people, yet on me it looks, like fake blooming tan! And rather badly applied at that!
It seems, yes here in the North and over in Wiggly Woods and other locations around the country, a number of us watched Raising Cain last week.
However at least 2 people (hi Jools!!) have told me they watched the MRI episode last week. In fact there is a whole spoiler section about it on another message board I visit and I thought they bloke was just posting spoilers for the weeks to come not actually writing a synopsis of the episode he'd just watched...
So Jools and the Midlands watched the MRI episode while the rest of us watched this week's episode for the first time...
It's not like we have a different BBC1 is it? We're not in NI, Wales or Scotland, so how come some of us are watching the same episode AGAIN???
Oh my aching head, I feel like I've had a double attack of deja vu... As long as I don't purchase 2 tops and a pair of trousers tomorrow, oh and enjoy a nice cheese and caramelised onion sandwich from M&S all will be well... really... :oS
After completing my Krypton-factor-like efforts and successfully packing the slightly larger and in better condition black suitcase I stood it upright to try and lift it... hm... and discovered a dirty great tear in the seam!!! Oh no!!
So back it was to my original suitcase which I had lent to mother dearest for her holiday last year, she brought it back in a rather poor state - the badge had been ripped off the front and the side had been bent out of shape. I have managed to fix the spot of the missing badge where there had been 2 holes left behind (luggage handlers at Schiphol were a bit heavy handed!) by inserting a couple of MM large silver circle brads. Will diamond glaze them tomorrow - at the moment diamond glaze is proving the must-have item for travelling!
So yes, I had to transfer my packing scheme to my old suitcase and once more we are packed. Have managed to get a 12x12 artbin satchel in there with a small artbin box inside plus lots of socks and knickers to pad it out! LOL
And stage 2 is under way... I have applied St. Tropez to the legs in order to determine whether this works better on the old pins than the Dove which wasn't coming out strong enough. Great on the arms and decolletage, but not so noticeable on the pins... so St. Tropez, right leg done, forgot I needed to wear the latex gloves (ooer) for applying St. Tropez so spent the next 5 minutes furiously scrubbing the stuff off my hand - it is looking a bit tinted... :oO But now I have had to assume the legs stretch out collapsed on chair pose as the stuff dries on my legs... If I bend them I end up with a white patch behind my knees and I cannot do straight legs for a long period of time!!! Just thinking about it makes me want to bend my knees totally mad!
So another 24 mins to Medium and we shall see just what episode they are actually showing! Hopefully by then I will be able to recline without mucking up the "tan"....
Tomorrow night is proper packing night plus tool box packing night gah! So much to do!!!
Anyway, watched the first episode of Medium - Ariel looks soo young in it and Bridget, the only kid on TV I don't find trying after a while - lol
So after recording Bloom and Afterglow to Minidisk I totally have been playing them on my headphones as there are so many new nuances I've picked up just by playing them like that. That'll teach me not to be so lazy next time I get a new CD and remember to record on LP2 quality as it really does make a difference. Wonder what new stuff I'll discover in Confessions on a Dance Floor and Supernature.
Have finally broken into my Flake Easter egg, hey it's about time especially after all that ironing!
So I had hoped to have a nicely packed suitcase by the end of today...
Alas not so. Despite the lovely sunny weather my washing is STILL drying!!! This has to be the longest drying time known to man...
So not much done in the way of ironing or packing. I did however manage to get some work out of the way so can leave a bit early tomorrow to return a pair of trousers to Evans - they were OK when I tried them on, but in the light of reason and realisation they look awful on. And in fact I have found some nice trousers from a few years ago that are still a la mode and don't look utter pants! hehe
The toolbox is totally growing in size... I started a list yesterday and have added to it as random thoughts have popped into my head... I need to stop with the random thoughts now cos really... they are not helping with the "packing light" idea!
Camera charged, batteries charged, mini-disks all recorded, flip flops and slides fixed, holiday reading still to be decided...
My bookshelf is overflowing with books BUT I need something that I will quickly get into and stay into on the flight. Last time taking chick lit didn't quite work as anticipated... as I just couldn't get into it on the flight and ended up bringing my book home virtually unread.
So this time, I think I need easy-peasy romance of the Rachel Gibson Julie Ortolon school... and I may pick a few up in Walmart while there!
Anyway, more dove applied tonight, I fear I am going to have to get another bottle of this summer glow as it's half empty already! And I've not been applying it every day...
Right tomorrow night is definitely ironing night - everything SHOULD have dried by then...
Also any suggestions to add to my wishlist - my mind has gone completely blank and I know I will totally be overwhelmed with new stash! Should really add "another suitcase" to the list eh? LOL
One week from now and we will be in Floridaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
In an effort to get as organised as possible (and baring in mind total lack of spare time this coming week) I set out today with the intention of packing...
Yes. I did.
Well, so far the washing is drying, the smellies are organised, sorted and virtually packed and the music is currently being burned to mini-disk...
The beaded flip-flops that broke in Vancouver (being just a month old and worn twice!) have been diamond-glazed back together, my Accessorize flower grips have been diamond-glazed back together... are we sensing a pattern?
Anyway, so tomorrow I need to retrieve the suitcase from the loft, do some ironing, do some work, work out what tactic I'll use for packing and whether I really need to take certain items of clothing or if I will get away with a few things and doing washing... hm...
So my list of things to do is still pretty long.... :o\
Photobox photos have arrived, touche éclat has arrived (excellent speed on that order from Island Cosmetics), have started compiling my list for the crop tool box... gah... still feels like nothing has been accomplished tho...
Anyway, in other news... so saaaaaaaaaad - The Closer has finished its run on More4, the episode a week or so ago was the last in Season 1, so Season 2 starts in June in the US... just how long before we get it on More4?? Will we actually see it??
But better news, for late converts to Medium, Sci-Fi channel is showing the series from the beginning starting with episode 1 on Monday evening at 9 p.m. - look forward to watching from the beginning again, especially the first episode as it's so rough in my memory that one now... :oD
So not much left of my viewing habits that I can view is there... but hopefully they will continue to be fab... when the Apprentice goes I have no idea what will happen! LOL
So, I've had my eyebrows shaped and tinted, and lashes tinted... still a bit pink there, but that's ticked off the list...
M&S final run done
Purchased another new top for holiday/work
Some nice new jewellery
Oh and ordered Touche éclat - boy do I need it! - from some online shop in Jersey - £14.60 with free delivery so let's hope it arrives pronto!
And finally the task of the evening, uploaded photos to photobox and attempted to plan some LOs very theoretically to complete when away... hm, so that was no mean feat on dial-up I can tell ya! I started editing and resizing at 7.30!!!
So I am off to finish my book then tomorrow night is mini-disc recording night... gah... afraid no cyber cropping for me as I MUST get things in order now or I just will not sleep... almost a week to go!!!
Now, am I the only one with my wacko "unusual" hair... but does anyone else's hair smell a bit toasted after straightening...
It's not me being heavy handed with the GHDs, as it's the same whenever it's straightened at the salon, BUT this is a constant toasty smell that I'd rather not have... so am now looking for some tips and product recommendations.
I currently use the Lee Stafford straight and shine protection spray, but it's not doing much to mask the smell that only I seem to pick up on and no one else... so is there an after product I should be using?
Miss clueless here... wax and hair spray (occasionally) is all I use after straightening...
So come on then, straightening experts, reveal your secrets!
Great Apprentice tonight, however I fear Zoe has fallen into a dark dark rage since Sayed is still in! lol and it won't be him going next week as the clip of Sir Alan saying "You're fired!" for next week was a bit nicey nicey, not the way he'd get rid of Sayed surely... So am I destined to miss Saye'd firing when on holiday? I have worked out that I can probably watch the free on demand showing of the episodes the week I am away as I will be back just in time to still catch those... so... bring it on.
So on my return from 24 hr Tescos I think ah, I can now settle down to watch Medium....
Well no, I cannot as it's not blooming well on until MIDNIGHT!!!!
It's totally ridiculous... Such a great show and they shelve it so late... just like CH4 and The Closer, no idea they are onto a good thing and surprised to lose viewers - well dur not many people have the sleep patterns of Rip van flipping Winkle!
Hm, so this has left me time to sort out my purchases and try them on... new PJs, 3 new tops and a pair of beaded flip flops which I think were a total mistake now.
The ones I tried on were great, but had some damage so took the last pair in my size, got home have been walking in them and they are too tight and already pinching, and I'm not even in a hot climate yet! Oh well...
Still lots to do, stuff to pack, most stuff has been bought but need to record some mini-discs and stuff... and then it's time to tick off stuff on my list!
Oh and since the departure of Master chef from our screens, there is this show called the Great British Menu at 6.30 on BBC2 - where to top chefs go head to head to create dishes for the queen's birthday meal using ingredients and recipes from their area... N. Ireland this week and it's the main course tomorrow... and Friday is the head to head where the best menu is voted on.
I have no idea! I've managed a bit of scrapping and card making, but nothing to share just yet! ;o)
And around all that we've had a christening, copious amounts of chocolate, feline antics, and gusty weather!
Oh and I finished the Jenny Colgan book but it was a bit of a slog until 3/4 of the way through... hm, so not sure whether I shall get more, but happy ending all the same. Think I shall try the Orloton trilogy next.
So the weekend in photos might be the best way to sum up.
The happy family. :o)
And the happy family plus readers, do we recognise the shifty looking bloke on the left in the aptly coloured shirt and tie! He was rather proud of the fact that his garb matched the presents we'd wrapped and wasted no time with a traditional Polish vodka toast at the reception! lol
The Copious Amounts of Chocolate (which I have yet to eat! uh-hum)
So Christening on Easter Sunday delayed my egg opening, and what an egg!
Oh you want to see inside... right...
Oh and it's a dark and milk egg - shame it's not high on white chocolate, but I'll live! ;o)
The Feline Antics
Right and finally feline antics in the garden... It all started with the little purple ball flying about the patio...
Monty was intrigued:
Kizia had possession:
Monty wanted possession through covert actions:
Kizia gave him the evils - she wasn't giving up possession!
And here endeth the photos, for now... Glad to see the Lumix really can handle feline close-ups without me having to be in there face... nope, instead Monty would rather shove his face in the camera these days:
Oh yes, and how might one get rid of the obvious human reflection in his eye.... hm tricky...
Managed a bit of shopping today, 2 new tops and a pair of tracky bottoms and linen cut-offs... Was very tempted by a pair of Merrell flip-flops in Clinckards that were a dead match for my powder blue Merrell trainers, but at £45 I wasn't that desperate!
So the old black flip-flops will go on holiday with me, but I may get a new pair on my hols who knows...
Body Shop did fine business out of me, well actually I did better, got after sun and sun lotion for £3.50 (2 50 ml bottles) don't want to be carrying around too much of the stuff, and it smelt rather nice compared to lots of other oily cakey smelling lotions. And yey, finally found a tinted moisturiser that didn't look totally obvious - like my Molton Brown tinted moisturiser which is just too dark....
Oh and after all that, we got some lush food in M&S for Easter as well as for tea! Cannot wait for my citrus fruit salad tomorrow, dreadfully expensive, but I only have it about once a year... so decadent to have pre-pealed citrus segments, rip, lush and cool ready for giving you that zing! in the morning. Mind you we also went and stocked up in Lidl too, from 2 extremes M&S to Lidl but lots of nice fruit juices (cannot get enough of my orange, carrot and lemon juice!) and German Easter treats. :oD
Anyway, off to register my new books on Bookcrossing - ah Amazon parcels, as nice as stash parcels, got the new Jennifer Weiner book plus a trilogy from Julie Ortolon which was a rec from amazon recommendations based on my addiction to Jennifer Crusie and Rachel Gibson reads!
Anyway happy Good Friday for tomorrow everyone, I shall be enjoying my M&S hot cross buns and slice of simnel cake while the eggs are dying in the onion skins! ;o)
I don't know what it is, but these past few days I have spent more time on hold than ever before in my life! if I hear one more "Your call is important to us..." I'll gag!
In fact it's a good job I'm not totally overrun with work-work projects as I have had so much to sort out loading this, setting up that, installing xyz and sitting on technical support for 89 minutes straight... I ended up with a good conversation with Derek my technical support bloke at the end of that one, think we were both headed for the bottle after the niggly issues that couldn't be resolved!
Anyway, at some point I will get back to doing some proper work, and I WILL go clothes shopping for my holiday threads, if there are any to be had, I WILL get my money sorted, I WILL get my insurance sorted, and I WILL get an adaptor for my camera charger and ghd straighteners which will work on holiday but not at the same power level... fair enough...
And last but not least I WILL get blooming organised... I think... or at least I'll make the effort... well after The Apprentice and Desperate Housewives tonight... but oh, it's The Closer and ER tomorrow night... hm...
Started a new book today so will see how that goes - I did a fair bit of reading last night to finish Perfect Day - Zoe's lending library strikes again. Rather surprising how much you wanted to keep reading that one...
I could really do with a time out - and yes that can be interpreted as the chocolate bar!
Where has the time gone? I can't believe I've not updated since Wednesday... but anyhoo... BT broadband and Fusion are currently working at work, I have my new mobile operable and just now need to sort out the transfer of domain hosting, I have a nasty feeling this is going to take a while and could impact on my holiday some how... so positive vibes needed for that transition to pass asap!!
Been to the hairdressers today and finally came out with my own set of GHD straighteners, alas none of the pink ones left as they were for breast cancer awareness last year, but I will have something to control the frizz while on my hols! I hope!
Also been half-tuned into craft day today. A refreshing sight to see a number of recent products such as American Crafts ribbon and MM stuff - let's hope it continues a little more in this way. Mind I've not succumbed, even to the TSV so something must be going right with my self control - however I did spend £100 on hair care didn't I??
Oh and I am currently trying out that summer glow lotion from Dove that contains a bit of fake tan... we shall see how that goes as I really need to get from purple and pastey to normal and glowing pretty soon! The smell isn't totally fake tan, but after it seeps into the skin there's a bit of a slight chemical smell of fake tan! Great... :oS
Let's hope I do not wake up as a giant orange tomorrow eh?
I finished the Tennis party yesterday, alas not a great read, and a tad disappointing, but I have plenty of books in the "Zoe's recs" pile ready to tackle. Need to do a little work tomorrow due to all the BT stuff that has left me behind, but I also need to get creating on some projects. Plus at some point need to get to Tescos to check out their clothes for my hols... I need cheap and cheerful - Asda was rubbish today... only came out with a couple of T-shirts and they are rather ill-fitting, but for £6 what do you want...
Well I did slightly better tonight at accomplishing my tasks - only one thing left outstanding, and it's not the bookcrossing books - they are all ready to be released via the postal system!
Strange being in British summer time at the moment, it looks glorious outside, but it's absolutely freezing, I had strawberries for tea, but after hot stew and mash, so it's totally transition time... But roll on more strawberries, even though I have a mild allergy to excess strawberry flavouring, not a good look the pink blotches...
Am on the look out for a christening gift, but have no idea what you get for people that is "reasonable" and not something they'll get lots of from everyone, think egg cup and spoon, but don't folks end up with 20 sets or something? Ideas welcomed!
Only a few more chapters of Life Swap to go, then Zoe can finally get her book back! LOL - I really wanted to finish it tonight, but Medium's on in a bit so I'd best leave it until tomorrow to try and finish.
I had every intention of sending my bookcrossing books off today but totally forgot to take my post with me, plus I still have a parcel to package up and address so will do that tomorrow, honestly!
Am keeping my fingers crossed that we manage to all meet up for Zoe's birthday meal on Wednesday night, if not Zoe do you fancy dinner a deux? hehe I promise you can take a balloon home with you... :oD
Anyway, fingers crossed this week goes smoothly, we have BT converting us to broadband and a whole other load of products this week at work so please let this go more smoothly than the initial attempt 3 years ago! I know many of you will ask what the hell are they thinking, but we're at the stage where BT business is the only one that can offer all the things we need for remote access... oh and I'll have a new mobile - just like Gill's but a slinky black number... so must get used to new predictive text when I have to switch from my lovely nokia 3650 and it's funky samba ringtone... oh yes... I am in the "samba, samba, samba di jenero" cyber crop team. It all looks very cool!
Oh and really enjoying Life Swap glad to read a new Jane Green, have missed her books of late, looking forward to more on the bus to work tomorrow!
Well my lovely Fashionable stamps have been cut out and are now drying...
Yum just can't wait to use these:
I've had time for a little play with my lush new camera, oh I love it! I just need to find the right image quality/size to file size ratio but I am testing them out. Especially love the scene settings for us dummies... I tried out the "food" setting (apparently shouldn't have an overpowering flash glare) on my favourite drawer of the moment, yep, the AC ribbon drawer! Considering that drawer is in the shade from the top light and is only lit by flash, I think it's fab!
What do you think? It's a very good likeness compared to using the Fuji which, when using flash with no natural light, was very grey and orange at the same time... I am well chuffed and look forward to plenty more fantastic photos when my additional SD cards arrive!
So any Lumix experts out there want to tell me what size vs. quality I should have it set to for my holiday snaps - 3 1G cards winging their way to me so hope they last for a week's worth of constant photos!
So stamps still drying and my Sassafras Lass stamps still to try, but I am sure to find time tomorrow to do something - hopefully!
Oh and for those desperate for the Cactus Pink stamps, if you're a fan of CP products you may just be the lucky person to win this competition! :oO
Yep, as we are now well into spring, the clocks changed, we are on British Summertime, I thought it was time for a change and enter my LRS Scenic Route kit as the source of inspiration.
I ended up doing a little spring cleaning as well today, not actually achieved much but there are 2 boxes of stash to sell ready for a crop and 1 huge box of stuff I'll never sell in reality headed for the charity shop, I'll just be glad if someone takes em off my hands!
The bug is still hear and the Kleenex is dwindling a little, and I am now off to apply some tack it all over to those new Fontwerks stamps mmm... after that I need to fond a home for my new purchases and keep tidying a little.
I've got extra space now for any new embellishments I may pick up on my hols, oh and have ticked a few things off my to-do list... still lots more to tick off mind! Anyway off to top up on Sudafed and cut those stamps!
